    CS-3501i DLP issues

Probably just a dumb overlook, but finishing a maintenance kit on a CS-3501i and can't get the DLP Rail Lever to engage. Rechecked and seated everything with no luck. Any thoughts?

Not really sure on a 3501, but I had it happen to me on a 6501 and turned out to be a guard in the dv unit that looks like a cleaning blade and looks like it belongs.
    Hope that helps.

I've done it before & I didn't have the red felt cleaner in all the way in the rear of the machine.
    Hope that helps !

As Lunatech said, the DV has a shipping guard that has a clear mylar and a rubber spacer and at first glance it appears a part of the DV but it is only for shipping. It is located at the bottom of the mag roller, it is easy to miss.

Yes this was an interesting one.

After some fiddling I had discovered that the developer shift arms are very easy to bend, and maybe just bend after repeated operating of the handle. To really address this it's necessary to remove the developer shift shaft assembly from the machine. It's quite easy. There is a metal plate on the front frame, when removed the front bearing and whole shaft assembly slides out to the front.

This last picture is the most instructive. Reform both arms so that the "D" shaped opening looks like this. No special tools required. It's sadly very easy to do.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Winner, winner! Thank you! Really easy to get to and great pics.
At first though, after reading Lunatech's response I was second guessing myself all night. I would have kicked myself but after a day like yesterday, I figured anything might be possible.
Just took over this machine and have been bringing it back to life. Found they had been running with a missing drum cover fixing pin as well.
