    Usefull Cheep/free software used

    Hi All

I thought it may be useful for all us suffering techs to share what programs are being used to make our lives a little less stressful.

    Thanks much..

    Cheers...

Foxit pdf viewer has been a lifesaver several times latley for Pdf printing issues. Use foxit and the pdf prints how it should, showing the mfp isn't the issue.

A lot of my customers seem to like irfanviewer. It's a free photoeditor, great for resizing images to post on copytechnet. What they like about it though is that it shows up as a printer so they can print/convert any file to a pdf. Works great for those web based programs that don't like to print. Print with irfanviewer, save it as a pdf, which then prints fine.

Not sure if it's still available but kyocera made an undelete utility (kmundelete) that was good for uninstalling print drivers.

I still use kmundelete. Great little app.

Have used Irfanviewer when MS Photoviewer is causing issues.

Foxit is great, use it regularly.

Teracopy - TeraCopy for Windows - Code Sector

Much, much faster than windows file copy/move.
Nothing works quite so well that I can't totally disable it by trying to make it a little better.

Lightbulb Re: Usefull Cheap/free software used

(oops, just realized this was posted in connectivity, none of these are connectivity related)

I use a few smartphone apps that are helpful.

To check humidity, I use "Galaxy Sensors", it is phone specific, but there are lots of these, so you can probably find one you like. Sometimes if there is jamming, you can check if there is high or low humidity in the environment, which could cause it.

The other is "FaxBurner" There is a free version that gives you a free Toll Free number. You can fax out from the copier to the app 25 times per month. The fax shows up in your app and in your email as a digital PDF. This takes around 10 to 15 minutes. This is useful for checking quality, seeing if the fax goes through etc. You can fax from the app to your machine 5 times "lifetime". You can obviously do more if you upgrade.

Occasionally we will take video with our phones in slow motion to try to unravel a jamming problem. This is probably standard in many phones, there may be an app too.

    Hope this helps someone.

Never heard of Irfanviewer, so I decided to search it. All that came up was Irfanview which I have used for years. It is much more than a viewer. It is a very versatile program, especially when used with all of the available plugins, including ghostscript. It can open almost any image or document file. It can save a file in whatever format you want. You can take a screen shot, paste it to Irfanview, crop off unwanted portions of the page and save the result.

I'm still a fan of Piriform. Ccleaner, defraggler and such. Call me crazy but thus far theyve been useful even in windows 10
