But a USA TODAY NETWORK analysis found he has been involved in more than 3,500 lawsuits over the past three decades — and a large number of those involve ordinary Americans, like the Friels, who say Trump or his companies have refused to pay them.
Trump’s companies have also been cited for 24 violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act since 2005 for failing to pay overtime or minimum wage, according to U.S. Department of Labor data. That includes 21 citations against the defunct Trump Plaza in Atlantic City and three against the also out-of-business Trump Mortgage LLC in New York. Both cases were resolved by the companies agreeing to pay back wages.
In addition to the lawsuits, the review found more than 200 mechanic’s liens — filed by contractors and employees against Trump, his companies or his properties claiming they were owed money for their work — since the 1980s. The liens range from a $75,000 claim by a Plainview, N.Y., air conditioning and heating company to a $1 million claim from the president of a New York City real estate banking firm. On just one project, Trump’s Taj Mahal casino in Atlantic City, records released by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission in 1990 show that at least 253 subcontractors weren’t paid in full or on time, including workers who installed walls, chandeliers and plumbing.
One of the builders was Marty Rosenberg, vice president of Atlantic Plate Glass Co., who said he was owed about $1.5 million for work at the Taj Mahal. When it became clear Trump was not going to pay in full, Rosenberg took on an informal leadership role, representing about 100 to 150 contractors in negotiations with Trump.
Rosenberg’s mission: with Trump offering as little as 30 cents on the dollar to some of the contractors, Rosenberg wanted to get as much as he could for the small businesses, most staffed by younger tradesmen with modest incomes and often families to support.
“Yes, there were a lot of other companies," he said of those Trump left waiting to get paid. "Yes, some did not survive."

DONALD TRUMP’S COMPANIES DESTROYED EMAILS IN DEFIANCE OF COURT ORDERS
Over the course of decades, Donald Trump’s companies have systematically destroyed or hidden thousands of emails, digital records and paper documents demanded in official proceedings, often in defiance of court orders. These tactics—exposed by a Newsweek review of thousands of pages of court filings, judicial orders and affidavits from an array of court cases—have enraged judges, prosecutors, opposing lawyers and the many ordinary citizens entangled in litigation with Trump. In each instance, Trump and entities he controlled also erected numerous hurdles that made lawsuits drag on for years, forcing courtroom opponents to spend huge sums of money in legal fees as they struggled—sometimes in vain—to obtain records.

On Jan 29, the Trump administration must implement a set of additional sanctions meant to punish Russia for its interference in the 2016 US election. Those sanctions were mandated by Congress in a bill passed last year, which President Donald Trump vocally opposed but signed into law nonetheless.

It appears that Russia is still working on interfering in US politics by using its social media resources to promote the Twitter hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo which deals with President Trump's wiretapping allegations.
Top Democrats are calling on Facebook and Twitter to investigate and release information behind potential Russia linked accounts pushing for release of a sealed congressional memo allegedly containing details on US Gov't surveillance abuses.
The Democrats are claiming that recent Russian efforts were attempting to influence congressional action and undermine Special Council Mueller's investigation into meddling into the 2016 election. They claim that #ReleaseTheMemo" is getting a strong boost from Kremlin linked groups.
Democrats are saying that if it is true that the Kremlin is behind this online campaign, "we are witnessing an ongoing attack by the Russian gov't through Kremlin linked social media actors directly acting to intervene and influence our democratic process" adding that it would be the "latest example of Russian interference".

Twitter said on Friday that it would email nearly 678,000 people in the US to notify them they had followed accounts related to Russian propagandists or had retweeted a or liked a tweet sent out to them about the 2016 election.
It also said that it had found 1,062 new accounts associated with the Russian troll farm known as the Internet Research Agency. That brings the total to 3,814 accounts all of which Twitter has suspended.
Twitter also found another 13,500 automated accounts (bots) - for a total of 50,258 - that were linked ot Russia and tweeting out election related material.
"Any such activities represent a challenge to democratic societies everywhere and we are committed to work on this important issue" said Twitter.
Russian Networks Pushing #ReleaseTheMemo Meme
That's funny. It's the Russians calling for transparency now. Even though I mentioned it more than a week ago, calling for the release. But it's just the Russians who want it released. I grow bored with the rhetoric. It's really pitiful.
The president has until Monday to implement stiff penalties targeting the Kremlin — and lawmakers aren’t sure he’ll comply on time.
President Donald Trump’s willingness to crack down on Russia will be seriously tested come Monday.
Trump faces a major deadline to use the Russia sanctions power that Congress overwhelmingly voted to give him — and it’s anybody’s guess as to whether he’ll comply on time after missing the last deadline.
