    Re: Real or altered counters

As i have not sold a new machine in over 10 years I can sense if some units might be fishy.
Most lease returns never care about meter and the only issue one could have is
warehouse tech swapping out a fuser unit or drum etc etc to a different machine.
I try to tip my warehouse guys lunch money to have an extra set of eyes on my bought stuff.
as for low meter returns,i one got a unit back that had 2k b/w copies and "15" color...
    go figure

Does the mechanical measurement have any kind of shielding?
or is it as simple as opening it and modifying the numbers?
Sorry for my English, but help me google

Nothing special about opening a mechanical meter but you can always tell it was open by marks, broken plastic, etc.

And just in case someone thinks that they can just disconnect the counter, it will make 1 copy and then error. You can reboot and make another copy but who wants to cycle power for each copy.

anyone can cheat if the want to spend time and money.
When i use to sell 62cpm sharp anaologs there was a dealer who use to send out the
copier "skins",all to be redone to look new and he would buy brand new mechanical counters.
At the time i think one could zero out the counters in service mode.
So if you are buying used machines you need to know who you are dealing with...
I am lucky i inspect all units b4 paying for them,if a meter is wrong or panels broken etc i ask for a small $ adjustment.

Does the MP C5502 have a mechanical counter as well? If so, where?

It's on page U030 Electrical 1 in the parts catalog. Since the 3d parts catalogs suck, I couldnt really tell where its at. Maybe below the IH coil power supply somewhere.
