    Ricoh MPC4503 Printing Issues

    Good afternoon,

    I have a problem with a MPC4503 when printing.....

If you send a 30 page print job for example - it will print out the first 10 pages then it like it forgets what it is printing and then restarts the print job from the beginning then it may print 14 pages then restart.

If I look at the print job in the print driver while its spooling you can see it show an error and the restart.

The package firmware is up to date and I'm using the PCL6 driver.

I've, also got this problem on a MPC2003.Any thoughts will be appreciated.

    Thanks

Is the 4503 reporting a jam and then restarting the print after clearing the jam? If so, you have a flaky door switch somewhere, Usual suspect if you have an external finisher is the switches in the bridge unit.

If going through a surge protector try bypassing that. Had one doing similar.

try clearing out 5801xxx that relates to the printer. i don't know the sub code, it maybe 007. as always never do a all clear 001 or 002. You can also reformat the HD in 5832 but back up your address book first.

Is it network printing or tcp/ip printing?
    Is is using WSD port?
Have you tried reformatting the HDD?
Have you tried clearing the Printer Application?
How about NCS? I once had a problem saying "waiting for print data" on the printer screen, after doing the NCS, it started working fine again.

    Good Luck

Sounds likely it could be a duplicate IP address, bad network cable, or failing port on their switch.

Just to CYA, lock in the LAN speed. Repeatedly losing and reconnecting is a symptom of a failure of the Auto negotiation of the LAN speed.

Is the problem print job HTML/XPS pages coming off an internet browser?
Clear the print spooler directory of all files and try the print job again.

Is the customer is same in both the cases? Is it connected directly through some port OR through Print Server? Which protocol?
Which OS & Application software? How is network performance?
Try connecting your laptop directly & check.

If it is PCL OR PS try changing SPOOL setting as "Start printing after last page is spooled" OR "Hold mismatch document" setting.
In case of PS try changing "Send C
TRL -D" setting in device setting.

    Ensure bidirectional communication is ON.

I feel if job shows restart in printer driver, mostly it could be OS OR Printer driver setting OR break in network.

    Hope this helps

"I've, also got this problem on a MPC2003." You write.

Is this mpc2003 connected to the same network with the same customer?
