Thumbs up Estudio 356 with MR3022 message Place doc reader in down position

Estudio 356 with MR3022 radf. Had just changed drum and cleaning blade and fuser unit due to print quality issues from both units.

The document feeder was running okay though customer mentioned at times they get a jam or double feed. I cleaned the rollers

okay and print quality was excellent. Customer called next day with jamming in document feeder. When i got there the document

feeder said jam in exit area but no paper there. Unfamiliar with this machine and unable to find cause of problem after over an

hour of troubleshooting. I removed document feeder and took back to my place. There was a dislodged actuator /sensor in turn guide.

I reinstalled document feeder yesterday and after the usual long warmup there was a message on screen that said "Place Doc Feeder

in Down Position" I checked both actuators and sensors and they appeared to be working properly. It was close to 5 o'clock and customer

was closing. Am I missing something because this is stressing me out. Especially after customer just paying me for drum and fuser installation

which was costly. Please help me here if you can. I would be very grateful if you could. Frank

Replace the sensor they can be intermittent, check actuator and adjust RADF position/height etc and check in Test Mode for RADF Connection (FAX ON Button 5 [F]) and Platen SW Detection (FAX ON Button 5 [G] Open/Closed)
Defects are simple, our mind is complicated

Did you disconnect/re-connect the DF while it was live/hot? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thumbs up Re: Estudio 356 with MR3022 message Place doc reader in down position

I am almost certain I did not disconnect while machine was on as I am aware it
could cause problem a board on some machines.

I was thinking about this logically and I assume as on all machines i have worked on

that you can lift adf and run copies all day long and not get message to place document

feeder in the down position. Is it referring to something other than the sensors that engage

when feeder is lifted offf the glass and place back down on glass?

Thanks Blizoo. I I have the SM but when I checked test mode I did not see a detailed explanation of accessing

specific things for testing . Just the 2 digit (03) for testing and general info. Is it easy to follow once the

test mode screen comes on? I am unfamiliar with machine other than having change drum, blade and fuser

In 03 Mode you can test each sensor individually. It's not simply or intuitive like Kyocera's sensor test or motor test, but I am confident that you can figure it out.

You'll set Fax to ON or OFF as needed, then select the numbered group that has the sensor you'd like to test. Press Start. You'll see A B C D E F G H, when the sensor is tripped the appropriate letter is highlighted.

The original detect actuator was activated though no paper was there. I did not notice that it was not in position as it was not obvious and was concentrating on potential problem with radf position on platen. okay now. Another embarrassing but learning moment. Thanks to all for your input. Frank
