    scanning question

Recently we have had quite a few clients have windows updates to there windows 10 computers and lose the scan to SMB ...is there any other way to connect for net work scanning to get around this ? ...just trying to exhaust all possibilities before we tell the customer it wont work ... one client has a Kyocera 300i ...another has the 2560 ...any help or suggestions are appreciated ...if there are no other setups available then so be it ...

Thank you for your time ....Maurice

I do believe that you can go into windows system and turn it back on.
I recently asked the help desk at kyocera that question and he said you cant use smb 1 anymore on older models. Basically he said this is the way to get customers out of the old into the new. Google it and you might have your answer, its a big topic now

    Re: scanning question

On older machines, such as the ones you mention, FTP or email are you only viable options for scanning, due to the fact that Microsoft is turning off smbv1. I know it may be tempting to turn it back on, but I would not advise it because you will be opening up your PC to viruses that attack through SMB1 port.

Update the firmware or you can simply re-enable SMB1 in Windows programs & features. Don't be put off with all the scaremongering about SMB v1 being a security risk, it's done OK for decades.

Also if you turn SMB1 on your customers PC and they get hacked you are setting yourself up for a sweet lawsuit.
