    2550B scanning

Took this low meter Ricoh 2550b in trade, don't know ricoh that well and had a few stupid questions:

Have a relative to give it to but think they would use scanning. Is there a way to tell if it has scanning installed without connecting to network, unless a standard feature? I know it has printing because I personally unplugged the net cable

Will this model configure to print & scan with newer OS's and Mac's?

By the way Ricoh don't change much. Not much different from the Af 1027 I worked on years ago. Ha-ha must of had an overrun of parts, drums, toners, etc... Or a good footprint that works. Thought they would of at least changed the toner btl setup. Think this bad toner bottle designed "nipple gripper" has been discussed on this forum many times.

    Thanks in advance

Yes it will scan, you may have isues with scan to email if the smtp server needs SSL.

Scan to folder will be fine however you may have issues with Win 10 if SMB v1 is disabled.

If there is a print scan card in slot 1 it should work with the exception of SMB 2/3 and/or ssl internet based mail. It is similar to the AF 1027 cause it is only a couple of generations newer. That engine is at least 11-13 years old and a far cry from the modern Ricoh devices. Great hardware, work great.

First, the B model was a Basic model. It did not have either print or scan function from the factory. It did have a network jack to allow access to WIM. It did not have an HDD. HDD is required for printing, scanning and Document Server. Upgrade was through adding the HDD, an additional 256M memory and the appropriate SD card, see Product Support Guide.

The 2550 was the predecessor to the MP3251. For scan to email, it did support SSL but not TSL. It may require installing an updated device certificate as the current one may be expired.

Also the B model does not offer color scanning.

I would think if you go into service mode and see scanner under engine and printer it should be there.
YOU could try scan to folder or use a twain type program like scan to pdf..
These adf units were pretty good
