    Flag. In fact if I remember correctly it is a reed switch with a magnet on the flag end.

    i ve seen the flag itself go where it gets a cutout over time on some older high speed sharps.

    you are correct it is the old school reed switch..
    I am talking about the one mounted on the fuser unit itself at the entrance..

    I have noticed significant less jams if the rear panel was disassembelt.
    Probabely due to better air transport.
    Even dough all filters were cleaned or replaced (very important).

    I cant chance some poor secretary having her hand eaten up when she goes to grab something that might have fallen..
    I am going back wth reed switch and transfer belt as i saw mention in GG about transfer unit could cause it.

    ok so i didnt want to tempt the gods of copiers but i swapped out the reed switch on monday,ran 200 copies and waited out the week for that dreaded call..

    It came but this was for a waste toner full on their backup mpc401 and the mp6001 is still ticking away....
    so thanks to all who offered up help...
