I think that chip is Sharp proprietary and not a commercial one.

Here Sharp suggests to change the whole (laser) motor assy. and establishes the chip change as the main reason.

I read this official report. Chip NBC3111 is not property SHARP. The chip is on sale in shops. Chip NBC3111 is the standard driver of motors and is used in various household equipment. SHARP has made motor replacement, having forgotten to compensate financial losses of users. The motor becomes unfit for use after the termination of the guarantee period. SHARP refuses to accept claims on quality of former motors, referring on technical report DCE_XXX. Motor replacement, lays down heavy burden on shoulders of consumers that compels to search for ways to repair the old motor.

are you saying that you had a code L6-10 and you replaced only the chip and the laser now works?

Yes.
Chip replacement was not a simple problem. The chip bottom iron also is soldered to a payment. To warm up it is necessary the special electric hair dryer.

I know we will have to learn how to install but I think we can. I believe we will be able to find the chip but was wandering if installing the newer chip AN44000 would not be better. Have not found this chip for sale. would you are anyone else on this board know where I might find it. thanks for info as this will save us money.

never mind. after opening up a laser and looking, I don't think we want to repair it. looks like new laser is the way to go.
