The copier is streching the prints from front to rear when copying potrait.
I am new to this old machine. It looks like 48-01 and 48-02 are the adjustments but I can't make any change. Maybe I kept using auto and need to use manual? Any ideas?

Have you determined if the problem happens both from Doc feeder as well as from glass?

Doc feed check that rollers are worn and paper path is free of debris.

If it happens from glass only scanner is sticking somewhere.

If it happens both ways check the scanner PWB, CCD and the LSU.

Hope this helps ya.

It does not squeeze. It only expands the copy. When copying in portrait mode the bottom of the copy is way off the page. But side to side is not stretched. Mirrors and cables look good. It needs calibration I feel. Just not sure how to work sim 48-02. I try auto but it does not help.

How much is way off the page? You are saying that side to side it is okay but top to bottom is off. If the bottom is cut off is the top starting lower so the there is a blank white space? If it is then you first need to check simple stuff like paper size and paper guides. Can you post a sample?

See attachments. One is the original the other is stretched one.

TC 48-01 is for main scanning (front/rear) magnification adjustment, default is 58. TC 48-02 is fro the sub scanning mag adjustment, default is 50.

SPF, or OC? Feed direction or cross-feed? If it's SPF/feed direction you may have a problem with the SPF registration clutch. Also, the registration rollers can get dirty and slip, but not as evenly or consistently as your sample. You may also want to check if the mylar spacers are still present on the ends of the slit glass. If not, there may not be a large enough gap for the original to slide read on through.

One more thing. Those Katun test charts are printed on some really heavy stock. Try regular 20lb and see what happens. =^..^=

All copies are off the glass. I tried 48-01 and 48-02 and they are set to factory. I tried an internal print but the only print I get is a full black page and can't tell if the print is stretched. Not printing port on machine. Maybe I can find one and try it out to narrow down problem.

My real question is, shouldn't 48-01 and 48-02 correct the problem automatically?

It is not automatic; the auto, manual, and photo are indicators for Auto Mag, Manual Mag, and OC document off center adjustments. What symptoms do you get if you max out both ways 48-01 with auto led on? If no change (it won't be much), you may have a LSU problem.

Make a copy at 50% reduction and 150% enlargement. See if your problem changes. Also see if you have any E7 codes. Either way, I have a gut feeling that your mirror bases are not correctly aligned. Follow the proceedure in the service manual to align both of them. If they are off you will get the exact magnification issue you are having and nothing you do in sim 48 will have any effect at all. The alignment proceedure is easy so I would start there. Do you have a manual?

When I try to change the number it runs a while then goes back to 50, with no change in magnification.
