Hi,

I got a problem with my FS-C5020n. It says Call service 0952:0009760. I opened it and checked the wiring of the cyan print head (located on the drum unit DK510). The wiring is OK.

Can I swap the cyan drum with the magenta drum (swapping the developer and toner also) to find out wether the fault is located on the Drum Kit/Printhead (so the error code should change to 0953 then) or the PCB (then the error code should stay 0952)?

Other hints?

You only want to swap the drum unit, not the DV unit & toner cartridge.

We have had quite a few of those print heads fail and as it has not happened to me personally just some of my other Techs I am wondering if they are unplugging the ribbon cables for the drum units with them still plugged in or if it is just the way those cables plug in so if they are not fully seated when you power them up it takes them out? Not sure but it is making me not like those printers as the print heads are as much as the printer! I think it is a poor design!

the ribbon cables were OK. the printhead really had failed. The printer is ca. 600$, the printhead is $70. I got a new one on ebay - for 40$. So I think it isn't "beyond serviceable".

As the heads are all the same, why not pull the good ones out of a failed printer and use them to repair another?
