hello every one
I want to connect my KONICA MINOLTA 7555 photocopier on a network. The situation is, i have four PC's that are networked through a 8 port switch. I connected my photocopier to one port of switch and i enabled DHCP on a photocopier. the switch automatically assign a IP address to a photocopier, the printout of photocopier TCP/ IP setting is

TCP/IP Setup == ON
Subnet mask == 255.255.255.0
Enabled DHCP == ON
Other DNS Server == 202.163.96.4
IP Address == 192.168.1.37
Default Gateway == 192.168.1.1
Preferred DNS Server == 202.163.96.3
RAW Port Number == 9100

I downloaded PCL_6 printer drivers for 7222 Photocopier on one PC of the network then i add photocopier as a printer through "ADD PRINTER WIZARD" I selected a new "STANDARD TCP/IP PORT" in the wizard.
Place IP address of the photocopier (192.168.1.37) and Port name (IP_192.168.1.37) then i selected "GENERIC NETWORK CARD" as device type then next then finish then i install PCL_6 printer drivers then next and then shared this printer on a network then a test page option said, "Do you want to print a test page?" i selected yes.
But i was very frustrated when saw "TEST PAGE FAILED TO PRINT"

one more point i also pinging the photocopier from one PC of that network, the pinging is successful but "TEST PAGE FAILED TO PRINT" can't imagine it.

Can any one help me in solving this problem??? Any help will be very appriciated.

Some basics first:-

Have you tried unplugging the 7555 and pinging the device again, or use a web browser to make sure it is the device that is replying to your Ping.

i havenot tried to unplug the device then pinging it again. Actually i ping the IP address of photocopier and i get contineous reply from that.

If you unplug the Copier while continously pinging. if the reply continues, then there is another device with the same IPaddress.
I would also suggest using a static IP address for the printer or at least reserve the iP address on the switch where you are getting the DHCP lease address from. This will save issues if the switch gets reset and issues another IPaddress to the Copier.

ok i will check the pinging the device while unplugging it

ok tell me how can i give static ip address to the photocopier??

you need to find a static IP address that is outside of the DHCP Range of the Switch/Router. (you may need to web browse the switch/router) find the upper limit of the DHCP Range and allocate the copier an ip address outside of the dhcp range. Ping the address to make sure nothing else is using it first. I.E. if the dhcp range max number is 192.168.1.100 you could allocate 192.168.1.150 etc. just make sure it is a legal address on the same subnet as the computers and nothing else is using it.

thanks for contineous reply

tell me how can i find static IP address (that is outside of the DHCP Range of the Switch/Router) using web browse the switch??

Use one of the computers to web browse to :- 192.168.1.1

this is probably the router address - Default Gateway == 192.168.1.1, you should be able to get the information from here.

Since i have a DSL connection
when i web browse to 192.168.1.1 it gives me this useful information
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DEVICE INFORMATION

Host Name == P-660R-T1v2
Model Number == P-660R-T1 v2
MAC Address == 00:19:cb:4f:d0:5f
ZyNOS Firmware Version == V3.40(AZP0) | 09/07/2007
DSL Firmware Version == DMT FwVer: 3.5.18.8_A_TC

WAN Information
DSL Mode == ADSL2+ Mode
IP Address == 124.29.247.120
IP Subnet Mask == 255.255.255.255
Default Gateway == N/A
VPI/VCI == 0/35

LAN Information
IP Address == 192.168.1.1
IP Subnet Mask == 255.255.255.0
DHCP == Server
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now tell me what is the upper and lower limit of DHCP range, i think the upper limit is 192.168.1.1 Am i right??
OK now i m telling you one more thing that i checked IP addresses of all 4 PC's of the network, it gave me this

PC1 = 192.168.1.33
PC2 = 192.168.1.34 (My PC from which i m pinging the copier)
PC3 = 192.168.1.35
PC4 = 192.168.1.36
Photocopier = 192.168.1.37

These are all the IP's given by DHCP
now which static IP i should give to photocopier??

Make sure when the TCP/IP port was created the Raw Port Number is 9100.

This is under the Ports Tab in the Printers Properties > Configure Port > Raw Settings

Also as simple as it sounds.....check that you didn't type in the wrong ip address when creating the TCP/IP port.

I think your problem is that by default the PLC driver has "password" print checked in the options tab in the printer properties. Uncheck this box and you should be good to go.
