Doesn't seem to matter what copier model...Di5510, Di7210, 7272, 7165...all seem to have the same issue showing up at about 1.75 million copies. The drum is wearing a ring around 1 inch from the front of the drum. Looks like it is sandblasted or etched. A half inch ring around the drum. Causes specks and spots to appear on copies across the bottom of the page. The drum spacers front and rear look OK. The mag roller and mag brush look OK. Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary. Is this caused by the developer unit being worn out...or maybe the drum unit assembly itself worn out....or is it just the drum bearing....What the he*l ??? Any help and/ or experience here would sure be appreciated as this condition is eating drums at about the 10,000 to 25,000 copies range. Thanks very much in advance, Jim in Delaware.

Check your transsep for wear. On the front and rear edge of the paper guide there should be little bit of plastic myler that rides on the drum. Probably need to replace the whole unit.

Make sure the paper guide on the transfer /sep unit is not bent upwards. (the section just after the small rollers can be bent easily upwards and scuff the drum). Also make sure the plastic mylars on each end are not worn. I would recommend you also change the foam seals on the drum frame. Another thing to check is the developer drop mylar.(just below the dev unit) this does not stick very well to the process unit and I have known it to creep towards the drum after several services have been done.
