We have all voted for the worst copier ever, why dont we switch it up with:

What was the BEST COPIER EVER MADE?

I cast my vote for the Kyocera 2530, 3530, 4040, 3035, and 4035. You can\'t kill them things. And, the print systems actually work!

What does my avatar have to do with John Kerry? NOTHING. What my avatar symbolizes is my opinion that George Bush is a fucking dope. But like most wannabe Republicans, you can\'t come to any opinion about anything except \"Bill Clinton Bla Bla Bla...\" or \"John Kerry Bla Bla Bla...\" Get over it! and start worrying about what these neo-con dip-shits are doing to this counrty.

I will never understand how people who work for a living (copier techs and small business owners) keep voting for these people against their own best interest.

Is that the Ricoh 105 cpm machine?

That KM machine looks similar to the ricoh, maybe a psuedo clone of some kind. As for the ricoh family 105, It\'s a runner!!!!! I\'ve had a few of these for a couple years and they run great if you take care of them. 150k + per week. B)

This whole new craze with calling the Monica boxes KM\'s is screwing me up. KM is for Kyocera Mita! I\'ll bet you a nickle that there are lawyers doing paperwork on this subject somewhere :woohoo:

:pinch: Love the MONICA term, hadn\'t heard it before. I know I live in a small dark place. Sorry for the confusion. Since my paid allegance is to another family I use the KM term loosely. I do understand the confusion of Konica/Minolta and Kyocera/Mita, Because I deal with the RFG machines. Hmmmm, Ricoh family Group, and they are Ricoh and Savin who brings Gestetner and Lanier and Monroe. Also don\'t forget NRG or Nashuatec ect. ect. Keeping the machine to a common brand or type is a challenge. Oh and now the manufacturers will trade technology (aka models) with each other but leave out some critical info for us. AS for the legal eagles, their gonna take someones money somehow!!!

no. it the last \"konica\" model before the minolta merge. anything after this is a konica/minolta.

on small machines I\'d have to say the mita 1435 was a pretty
good box for it\'s time.
in the mid size i\'d have to say sharp AR M 350/450
are pretty great.

the DC-1435 was the last small machine built by mita that weighed over 30 pounds. We still have a bunch of them running on service contracts that are still making money today. The dc-1460 and dc-1470 machines that replaced them are going away much at a much faster pace.

I think the sharp AR M350/450 are the most reliable that
I\'ve worked on and they are for the most part very tech friendly.

I have to agree with the Kyocera 2530/3530/4030 and 3035... Falcoln 1 and 2. You could throw the thing down a flight of stairs (literally) and the thing would still work. If that is the only device that we had in the field I would have 1 tech and all profit.

Small machine wise there was a Toshiba box called the BD-3301, by far the greatest small machine ever! Then the idiots at toshiba put out nightmares like the BD-8412:eek: what a POS that was. The 400/500 series Canon machines were rock solid as was the 6650 series and for newer stuff any of the KM machines that have the Falcon engine are about as good as it gets these days.

They werr great till the little brake, broke for the platten and the top would over run and could fly off the machine. For a small machine though nothing beat the toshiba 3301, another machine that worked great and made you big dollars was the Sharp 8100 and 8260, they just kept going and going and going............. Good stuff

I have worked on both Konica's and Kyoceras extensively......the Konica 7145 was ok, but had it's own issues (such as..... a nasty tendency to blow engine boards...they were dual component....their cleaning units were known to back up.....the drum itself was tricky for newer techs to install properly......pm cycle was too short...and the pm took too many man hours to perform...etc..etc...etc), it was just a sped up and "tweaked" 7020 (a very problematic 20ppm model).........that Konica based their entire 20-45 ppm group on for years...the 7155 had hideous developer leakage issues forever that Konica kept coming out with "fixes" for....also, the staplers for the large fns for that model got knocked out of alignment easily....resulting in a realignment over and over... I forget how many updates they put us through on those two issues alone......so that's a down vote for me for the Konica.

The Kyocera 3035, 4035, 5035 is hands down the best series I've ever serviced. Not only does it have great functionality, it is easy to use, producing fewer "help" calls. The components usually make it to yield or higher, and are usually very easy to replace. This series has an impressive PM cycle and the PMs are not too time consuming. They produce fewer service calls and require less time on call than any other model that I have ever worked with. Kyocera made rewriting the system software very easy. The Kyocera extended print drivers are amazingly well thought out, and provide options to allow it to work with virtually any software application. Hands down the Kyocera wins. The customers love it, the salespeople love it, the service managers love it, hell, even the techs love it :-).

Well the ricoh 1022 1027 was quite good.... but nothing lasted like those old sharp 8100's and 8300's..... not to mention the image quality was great. sharp 20xx series were not that great but man were they easy to service... ALL NEW TOSHIBA's SUCK ...Cept for that new Ricoh / Toshiba 901/1101/1351.. went on training for it last month ... installed one last week .... only thing i found yet was the toner add system is odd (way too complicated) !!!! :) BY the way ... HERES A TIP... REROUTE THE BLACK HOSE FOM THE HOPPER TO THE TONER PUMP THROUGH THE U-CHANNEL FRAME (JUST TO THE LEFT OF THE TONER PUMP) DOWN AND BACK OUT AND RECONNECT IT...:) When I was on training had this black hose kink close to the pump and the machine starved for toner cant remember the error code tho.

The Mita dc111 was a great little box. The only weak spot was the
platen clutch pack. when they got older they would bind up and
drive the platen to the left or right depending which clutch bound up, snap off the stopper and if you were lucky
the platen didn't fall off the machine.
Pretty major repair.
Fortunetly it was gear driven instead of cable so the platen would
just run off the gear and stop.

This unit was 20 cpm with a 40k p/m schedule. I sold this beast of a machine, brand new and the church lady (swear to God im not joking) who used it made over a million copies and the digital meter started over again. Other then the usual heater rollers, feed tires and p/m's the only major thing i replaced was the developer unit, which quit on me at 800k. I would still have them running today if Sharp didnt make them obsolete via parts availabity.

I think the best copier ever would if we are talking only technically I couldnot say but the best for an independent service and supply provider would have to be one thatallows for tech/salesman to make excellent money on toner, drum etc. thru recycling . Amachine that if not the most reliable can be easily replaced at a low cost and continue to bring in high profit margins on supplies.
If that is the case I would have to go with the Sharp Al-1000 to 1600 series (Xerox XD series) where very good money canbe made. Also Sharp AR-160.161,200,205 series for toner and drum unit recycling.
When someone tells me that a machine is coming out and that toner is good for 100k I think "I am definately staying away from that machine. thanks for the warning". Frank/ActionPhotocopy

P S - - -Years ago I like the Sharp Sf726 + SF7040 series for same reason. PM every 5K for steady income.

I can't claim experience on every model out there, but I would have to vote for the Toshiba 4550. Simple, durable and predictable. I've seen these machines outrun others rated at twice the volume capacity. I personally have gotten more than 5 million copies out of multiple units.

Haven't had a lot of experience in the long term with brands outside Canon, so I will choose the iR2200/3300. I find if properly maintained they go forever, I have a couple units that have passed the 3,000,000 mark, that's 3x their rated lifespan.

Although the Af1035 and Af1045 (and corporate variants) were the best version of the 35/45 cpm Ricoh boxes, I'd agree with an earlier poster that the B022 (Af1022/1027 et. al.) series, and subsequent B089 (Af2022/2027 et. al.) series were the best made. Some of my co-workers leave these boxes untouched except for PCU's for 300-400K. If you PM them at 120 like you are 'spose to they'll run forever. I even have one for myself at home. The newer Af3025 and Af3030 that replaced the B089 models and added a "rebuildable" PCU seem to be less reliable, as do all the Af3xxx models I've seen. Sometimes I'm glad we don't sell them any more.

I agree with Ace on the Ricoh Aficio 1022/1027 2022/2027 series. These babies run, and run, and run.
"A Maytag" is the phrase I use to describe the performance/reliability of this fantasticly engineered series. (Are you listening Xerox Engineering Dept. slackers?)
When I get a sales call matching this series criteria, and the prospecting caller hears I offer a one (1) year warranty FREE of charge with the purchase, that is usualy followed by a common response of "How fast can iI get it."
The DOWN side for we resellers are to not expect service calls after the sale. I am used to customers who have these units, going well over 100k copies between service calls. The PCU is rated at 60k but typicaly go well over 100k. I had the fuser units doing over 200lk.

DOH!! This freak of engineering can put a tech out of a job, BUT we can thank the Xerox junk for putting food on the table.
