The actual firmware should be correct. I install Copystar firmware in Kyocera Mita & Copystar MFPs, with no problems. But the display language must be correct. Chinese or Swahili firmware might restore your machine, but who would read the screen for you? =^..^=

Do you have access to the hotline? What you need is Engine firmware only with the associated files. Once that loads correctly, then you can try to load the full version firmware, then upgrade as necessary.

If this fails, you may need to replace one or more of the following items, then re-try with the same procedure:
CODE DIMM
HDD
Main PWB

Do you know which firmware fails? Does it even start? It can take as long as 45 minutes, so don't get too anxious and stop it early. I wait at least 60 minutes before I consider shutting off. =^..^=

Not sure if firmware is starting switch dip switch on panel pcb to boot leave it for about 20 minutes after light stops flashing then switch to normal and try to boot first engine&pannel firmware from cf but after about 15 min get error message (will check tomorrow and let you know what it says) about 3 missing files does the same thing if you try to load from USB at port at back both are formated in fat also does same if you try to load all firmware with same message trying ver 5 believe higher version need this first. This is the first time had welcome screen error

The advisory is a little unclear.

Yes, version 5 is required before version 13 (if you have a version below 5). But if you have any version above 5, you can go directly to 13.
Most of my machines get updated only one level at a time. I've gotten recommendations from other techs to do all upgrades. Jumps of 3 levels of firmware have resulted in crashes.

Now back to your problem: You could have a bad panel PWB. =^..^=

Hard Drives are mechanical assemblies that generally spin at between 5,400 RPM and 7,200 RPM. They work as long as the copier is on. These newer copiers are set up so you should power them down from the power button on the operation panel before you turn the power switch off, does youe customer do this? This is to allow the Disk Drive to shut down correctly. If the disk drive is constantly shut down incorrectly it may cause the head to crash and also cause more errors on the drive. Which can shorten their life.

We had delivery people crash a couple of HDD's by unplugging the machine live, all switches ON. One of them was a Saturn 500ci. They had to pay for the last one. I don't expect any repeat performances.

You can also crash the HDD by yanking the USB stick in the middle of a U917 import or export. =^..^=

Dear all,

never ending story with "stuck on welcome" and/ or CF000

Broken main pwb, broken panel pwb, broken harness, broken memory, broken HDD, ......

First of all, are the motors are turning or not during "welcome" ?
If no turn you´ll have another problem inside and any FW upgrade will fail.
Because the machines are updating 1th the main FW and at last the panel FW.
If something goes wrong between updating of both parts, the upgrade stop and you´ll have wrong FW at the panel.. The result " welcome " or "Cf000"
"Welcome" would generated by the panel FW itselfs.
First of all, seperate both FW´s from the complete FW-folder by using "Wordpad"
Please select "DL_CTRL.2H7", by right mouse click, open it with " wordpad" and you see the following:
VER 1.0
VER_CTRL 2H7_2F00.013.006
THIS DL_CTRL.2H7 P xxxx
BOOT u-boot.bin B 31364
KERNEL zImage.kmmfp B 41093
INITRD initrd.bin B 14073
FILE_PART1 rootdiskimage.cramfs B 19954
FILE_PART2 setupdiskimage.cramfs B 52211

Now you look for all files you see DL_CTRL.2H7, u-boot.bin, zImage.kmmfp, initrd.bin, rootdiskimage.cramfs and setupdiskimage .cramfs.
All files are in the FW folder, copy and paste to your own folder named" Main"
2nd step:
Search for DL_PANL.2H7 and do the same, now you see:

VER 1.0
VER_PANL 2H7_7000.013.006
THIS DL_PANL.2H7 P 0
INITRD p_initrd.bin B 16918
PM p_pm.bin B 32432
UBMP p_update.bmp B 37635
LOGO p_logo.bin B 00391
KERNEL p_zImage.kmpanel_for_c B 41776
FILE_PART1 p_add-on_disk.img B 41342
copy and paste these 7 files to the folder "panel"

Now you have 13 files from main and panel.
Copy and paste all files to the root from your usb key.

Please use a key with "write/read LED" to see what happens.

In normal case the LED will lights up or flashing a short time after startup. ( My key is flashing 6 times )
After stop from motor turning, in normal case, the " Firmware screen " appears and the key starts to read the fw into the memory. It takes amount 20sec.
Screen changes to " write main"
At stuck in "welcome" you only can check if it works, but you don´t see the black fw screen.
if the led shows traffic, wait until the screen changes to "panel upgrade" and "complete".
Startup the machine again and you´ll get the C- or CF-Call, which is the reason why your upgrade failed.

Try it first by upgrading a well working machine and look at your usb key....

Mostly it´s coming by the engine pwb, but the fw stops at "motor - or high- voltage pwb". Caused by the internal connections. Motor pwb and high voltage pwb isn´t dircetly connected to the main pwb, they are need the engine pwb....

After this you can try to upgrade the engine only by the way before.
Select DL_ENGN.2H7 for high spped models, DL_ENGN.2JZ for low speed models and open by wordpad.
Select the files and upgrade only the engine.

In the worst case the fw dimm from the main pwb is broken and the machine don´t start the upgrade.
It´s possible to use a well working FW dimm to start upgrading and at coming up the black "FW upgrade screen" you change the good dimm against the broken one...time for exchange of both is depending on your usb key.
It´s the time from coming up " firmware upgrade" to " write main x% "

Strange procedures but upto today i solved 90 % by this way...
Best wishes

Hi again,

Now i´ll complete the FW Versions and you are able to upgrade each part itself without using the complete FW.
You´ll find a few Files beginning with DL_xxxx.2H7. This are the bootfiles for the machine. By this files the internal Linux system knows witch part must be upgraded.
It´s like a batch file from DOS..
DL_03LK-->DP750
DL_03LM-->PF720
DL_03LW-->MT720
DL_05H8-->PF760
DL_05JA-->DF780
DL_BRWS--> Browser
DL_CTRL-->Main
DL_ENGN.2H7-->Engine, high speed
DL_ENGN.2JZ-->Engine, low speed
DL_FAX.2H7-->Fax for Saturn range
DL_FAX.2KS-->Fax for Falcon4
DL_H2H7-->High Voltage PWB
DL_M2H7-->Motor Control PWB
DL_M3LT-->DF760 Middle PWB
DL_PANL-->Operation Panel/MMI
DL_S2H7-->Sleep CPU
DL_SCAN-->Scanner PWB
DL_T3LT-->DF760 Main

By opening with wordpad now you know which files you need for upgrading each part itself.

By the way, this works also at other wisecore machines from Kyo.
By example:
Falcon3,4
Stratos
Alphard.
Only the files sometimes are renamed. MAIN and Panel FW files have the same name at all machines.
At the bulletins you´ll find the new versions from each part.
By using the DL_xxxxfile now you can upgrade each part from every machine

Good luck
