hi there all.
i am a qualified service technician who is currently trying to nut out a problem on a Canon Photocopier (usually look at kyocera and panasonic)
the problem that i am having is when paper is goin to be fed it only exits the cassette about 1 or 2 cms. i cleaned the pickup and separation rollers. and this helped to the point where all documents fed in to the copier are stopping at the registration section. the copier has almost done 400000 copies and are thinking that the rollers are worn. i am not very familiar with this machine but it also looks like the registration flag has worn due to paper passing over it. (could this be true?) feed rollers in this machine were filthy and have all been cleaned. is there a maintenance kit available for this machine? and if so what does it involve/include.
any help would be appreciated. :D

Hello,

Repport the Jam code from: Service mode > Copier > Display > Jam.

Is it the same when using the bypass and the second cassette?

Rachid.

First step is to replace the pick up, feed & separation roller, cleaning helps but is only a quick fix.

The registration flag can wear down if it is the old plastic type (it has been modified with a metal tip)

Also check the cassette dial is set to the correct size. e.g if the tray has A4 paper in & the dial is set to A4R the machine will jam.

I can supply you with said parts if rquired, as a test you can swap the rollers from another port, e.g A3 is not used as much & rollers are usually not worn.

I echo what Canon.Tech has said.

Some more info would be good first. Jam code. Same all cassettes and paper sizes. etc etc,

Also on this machine, double check main door lower pin on the door side. The pin receptacle on the lower RHS of the door is plastic and can break. This can cause some nice jams.

a way to improve the stability of pressure applied by the vertical path roller to prevent jam code 0105.
If you have an imageRUNNER device which is experiencing a jam code 0105 , replace the old type parts with the new type parts listed

Replacing the Right Lower Door Assembly/the Right Lower Inner Door Assembly:

Never seen a 2880 without those ( new type ) door / guide. Even from install.

Or in other words never seen a 2880 with the old 4570 type guide / lower door.

I don't doubt it. Strange though. Got to say I don't recognise those serial numbers. Perhaps was different in the US over UK/EU. Any UK/EU techs had to change the old style guides on a 2880?

The OP should certainly take heed if he has the old style lower door and guide.

A few of the earlier 2880s had the old type lower door and guides. Only a very small number though.

Most of those serial numbers don't apply to the UK/Europe, and of the ones that do, only a tiny percentage were sold in the UK.

I remember the training machine having the old style door and guide, but in the field I've seen maybe 3 or 4 at the most.

hi there, thankyou everyone for your helpful info. i tried replacing the roller from the lower cassette (A3) but i looked like the last tech that looked at it had already swapped over rollers. the flag is the plastic type without the metal tip. cassette dial was set correctly. does anyone have the part numbers for the pickup, feed and sep rollers? also the part number for the registration switch (new modified part).

i was also reading teckat's post about replacing the right lower door assembly. ithink the machine needs this mod aswell. the serial number is JVB00***

No worries.

Seems to be faster if you right click the link & choose "save file as" rather than click on the lick & wait for it to open.
