Have a Canon ir5055 that sometimes will not boot, gets about 1/8 to 1/4 of the way and just stops. When it does boot, it will copy but not print from the network. Already replace the hard drive with one preloaded, replaced bootrom, replaced memory, SAME PROBLEM. Main controller PCB? 100,000 copies.

When it does boot and you try and print, on the display it say, XXXX Printer Processing...., USB does the same thing.

Have u tried to Disable the Multicast Discovery setting.

Additional Functions>System Settings>Network Settings>TCP/IP>screen 3 of 5>Multicast Discovery=Disable
Power off the imageRUNNER for the changes to update on the machine. Power unit on.

do u have an imagePass connected ??/
if so--replace the SDRAM on the S2

I will try if I can get it to boot. Sometimes takes 4 ~ 5 times before it will fully boot (sometimes it locks up the screen after it boots).

No image pass installed. No finisher. Just copier and doc feeder.

Thanks

Turning off the Multicast Discovery did not help.

Thanks

Is the hdd connected to a separate board, which also hosts the network connector? Colleage had one fail last weak, this was a 4080, but i believe the 2880/4080/50xx share the main controller parts.

No the hard drive is connected directly to the Main Controller PCB.

I remember boot problems with the iR600, the problem was the scanning lamp that it failed to turn on. Check if turns on, it is one of the first thing the machines do.

Also when it does turn on check if there are any Errors in the Service Mode.

When it boots it will copy all day long. It will just not print (ethernet or USB).

what ver.of firmware ??

latest is---v56.01.01 V3

see pdf>>>>>>>>>>17835

Already replace the hard drive with one preloaded

replaced bootrom

?--BootRom ver. u replaced needs to match the Boot ver. on that pre-loaded HDD u installed

make sure u do not have a "N" Boot Rom installed in this model----

i believe only the 5050 still uses the "N"

is a LMS-License based Printer Kit installed on this printer ??

where did u get a HDD that was preloaded /
attach a print out of System Software ver's installed on your printer:rolleyes:

So you don´t see any Errors that you can associate to the boot problems?

I got the hard drive, bootrom, and memory out of a working machine. Also put the hard drive, bootrom and memory into the other machine and it worked fine. I am thinking Main Controller? Maybe the ethernet port took a hit or spike?

No errors when it does not boot, it just stops at about 1/8 to 1/4 progress bar.

Yes sometimes it boots with the ethernet connected, sometimes not. Same with it disconnected, sometimes it does, sometimes not.

You can try by reinstalling firmware or by replacing main controller

Also noticed when it did boot and I looked in Additional Functions the 'Printer Setting' is grayed out. ??

It has the latest firmware installed V3.

It’s not good to fit a hard drive from another machine unless you are going to format it & re-install the firmware, this will cause all sorts of issues.
