I have a customer that is getting the message to empty the finisher tray after completing a stapled job. This happens only every couple of weeks, and is quickly solved by reaching inside and touching the alignment tray paper sensor. There is never anything on the sensor, and swiping my finger over it always clears it up - but rebooting the machine doesn't. I've tried replacing the sensor, but it keeps coming back. Since rebooting the machine doesn't reset it, I can't imagine that it's the finisher PWB. Any ideas?

One of the KM finishers had a bulletin to replace the tray full sensor actuator because it was 2 short to reliably activate the sensor.

This isn't about the main finisher tray - it's the internal alignment tray that it thinks still has paper in it.

Has the staple unit been removed from this machine? I remember in class after we removed it and reinstalled it we didn't get it in exactly right and was getting error there was paper in the finisher

No, it's never been removed. Also, the error only occurs every couple of weeks.

FS-526/FS-527, “The output tray has reached its capacity” message before reaching the maximum tray capacity if many one page jobs are printed.
Solution:
CAUSE: Firmware needs to be upgraded.

SOLUTION: Install special firmware version GD9-B4.

What did you do to resolve this issue? same issue to a T. I know it is years late but if you still remember.

Intermittent so tough to duplicate. It is not an issue with the output tray thinking it is full just like your issue....

Thanks

As I recall, the lease ran out and it was replaced before we ever figured it out.

These machines work with a page count vs type of paper stock and staple no staple to figure out how much paper the elevator tray is supposed to take it also has a limit sensor. The firmware fix could make a lot of sense.

Many moons later. The remove paper from the process section or stacker is caused by a paper dust/dirt build up on that stacker plate. Keeping it clean should resolve.
