I wish to stop the “Replace the Image Unit” & “Toner Low” message on the C253, I have downloaded the firmware etc but can someone explain what bit switch I need to change, as the word doc with the firmware is confusing, it says:
1. Life warning of low toner is NOT displayed.
2. DipSW No.51 0x00 : Life warning is displayed. (Default)
3. DipSW No.51 0x08 : Life warning is not displayed. I WANT TO SET THIS ONE
2.Life warning of Image unit is NOT displayed.
DipSW No.51 0x00 : Life warning is displayed. (Default)
DipSW No.51 0x10 : Life warning is not displayed. AND THIS ONE
So what switch do I need to change, I understand the DipSW number, but I don’t understand the “0x10” part!?

8 bits to a byte.

When you look at the DipSw editing screen there will be 8 numbers in one row representing your bits either set to "0" or "1".

Count down from 8 left to right (example below) to learn their positions. this is crucial to know because you need to know which bit(s) to set to 1 or 0

8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

But it will look like this on the screen

0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

The manuals will tell you which bit to turn on to "1" or "0", now you know the positions in which they speak of.

I hope I didnt confuse you, sorry if i did :D This is pretty basic stuff though..

The easiest way is to just change the "hex", change switch 51 to "D0" and 55 to "0C", dont forget to press "FIX" after changing each one

Thanks for the info, but can someone explain the attached file, it shows the software BIT switches as 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 so there is no "bit 8"
Or was this just on the older models?

But I understand it's easier to simply set the HEX box.

Correct, there is not a bit 8. Just set them as I typed them, it doesn't matter how they are numbered.

Why are you changing softswitch 53, when it's not mentioned in the bulletin.....and there are 8 bits....7 all the way down to and including 0

I said there is not a Bit 8. I didn't say there weren't 8 bits.
Soft switch is for ACS (auto colour selection). It stops the colour drums from turning when they are not needed.

i have bizhub c253 and the machine yield for drum K, but i dont want to replace it. Just thaught i can manage it by soft switches 55 and 51, but even if i fix them after changing, the setting is not remembered. Is there any special firmware allowing to change soft switches 55 to hex:0C and 51 to hex:F0?

Yes there is special firmware for this, however simply updating to the latest version will allow you to fix the settings.
You also have the HEX settings wrong, should be 51= D0 55=0C

You mean G20-R6, latest mass production firmware available on infohub will allow to make soft switch changes?
51 hex D0? on bizhub c220 and after, hex F0 is making no yield even for iu or transfer belt.

You need later F/W to allow you to make the changes to the softswitches, otherwise they'll never let you hit "Fix" and stay where you set them.

Also, the latest bulletin shows exactly which softswitches/changes in service mode need to be changed for that particular model. If you need the bulletin,
I'll try to figure out how to upload it here...??

Yes, simply load the Mass production firmware from Info Hub then you'll be able to change the HEX settings. 51-D0 55-0C

latest mass production f/w: G10-R6 - still can't fix those switches....
