My first guess would be NVRAM, or HVPS.

You could try the NVRAM recovery firmware.

Worked for me before. There was a setting somewhere that had to be done or the machine said it was generic and a better looking boot screen came up. Can't remember which dip setting it was.

I also thought of a NV-Recovery first but my informations are that there is no NV-Recovery Software for the C253 series available??
I would be happy to get this software!!

Same problem on a bizhub 250 and swapping the NVRAM fixed it.

It's from the NVRam. There is a tool that writes to a CF card the files to reset the NVRam. The copier will keep all the counters but you have to do all the steps from the installation.

Hi
I think there are many of us, who would be interested to learn more about this tool, which "resets" the NVRAM on a C253. Can you tell us more about it? Can you find it from KM direct or is not oficial yet?

The tool is just a CF reader/writer. The software that you use to write the files to the CF is called ISW. You download both it and the files from Konica's website.

Yes i know the ISW although i make the CF cards always with the cygwin tool. But the question is: Is there a special file, which resets the NVRAM like the older C250/C252/C450/C352 serie? If i had the file there is no problem to make a CF card. As far as i know there is not such a file at the moment but ni311 wrote "There is a tool that writes to a CF card the files to reset the NVRam".

Sorry guys, I thought we're talking about C250/252. From what I know so far there is no tool for C253, I guess we have to wait for a while....
Sorry again.

There is a special nvram reset tool that loads from the cf card (along with a key press when turning on the machine).

It is still available as a download on KMBS. Go to SSD, Click download firmware and more on the left. Do a search for "NVRAM" and scroll way down and pick the model you need (the older C250/C252/C300/C351/C450/C352 series and p models) make sure to get the instructions and follow them or your machine will no longer display Konica Minolta but will be generic)

It will have this name
Cxxx NVRAM Recovery Card Firmware version GCN-G4

Thanks but this is still for the older generation and not for the newer one (C203,C253,C353). As conclusion i would say we have to wait a little bit longer until a NVRAM recovery tool for the "Mosel/Thames serie available is.
