Hey Gang,

I have a Bizhub 421 streaking in subscan direction. I have taken out and cleaned drum, blade and charge grid, vacuumed out toner waste well and re-assembled. Also scrubbed corona wires with sos to shine, wiped w/ iso wipe. The quality got much better but is still showing some streaks. (See attached) cleaned laser glass as well. Plan on replacing Drum Blade next. Wanted to know if there are any other parts that would add to this defect. Unit is approaching 300,000. Thanks for all helpful comments. V:(

It's probably the drum. The life is supposed to be 250k, but they crap out at 300k!

Drum scuff...... you should be able to see it.

Go easy on cleaning those charge wires, or you will break the crappy little pin in the block.

update; Changed the Drum Blade and refit side seals and that seemed to have gotten rid of 98% random streaking. It didn't completely remove all marks as I'll get a hint of a faded stripe in say 1 out of about 15 pages. Next step will be drum. Thanks again for your help.

If it is the drum scuff. Can you replace just the drum on these or do you also have to change developer at the same time? Service Manual says that you have to reset counter or you may get fogging or toner splash. Thanks for reply, Vic

I think it would be safe to do drum alone. And reset the drum counts also.

Thanks for the quick followup, CraigW. I'll report back later.

fuser web and the funky B421 style reset.

That looks like blade failure. I never replace a drum without a new blade.

Post #5 said the blade was replaced.

Never liked that set-up..... not one bit.

Take away my wonderful 7045s, and give me a sped up 7020. Only advantage is the 250k pm cycle.

try increasing grid voltage a bit, may hide problem, and put off drum replacement for sometime.

Yes, it is nice to see all the legacy Konica crap is out of production at Konica Minolta.

I rarely need my vacuum anymore since we got rid of them. When we still had them in the field you couldn't do a call without it.
