    Brother MFC-J6910 Error Code 75

    Good day

MFC-J6910 had a damaged Maintenance Assy so a new one (plus ASF drive Assy) was ordered. Now the MFC greets me with error 75 (unable to clean 75) every time it boots.

    1. There are no foreign objects in the printer
    2. Carriage motor operates
    3. New ASF Assy + new Maintenance Assy installed

I would be grateful for any advice on how to tackle this problem.

What we have here is a head capping failure ... recheck your install of the maintenance unit.. connections to the carriage drive motor .. ASF drive assembly.. or something blocking the path

Done that already. The carriage moves on its own from left to right when the MFC is turned on. It also docks the maintenance unit.

Check for a dirty carriage encoder strip. If it gives a false reading the machine will think the carriage is obstructed.

BUT does the cap move up to meet the carriage? just because it "docks" doesn't mean the caps move up.. I had to go behind another tech and straighten this same issue out from his work.

that would be a code 76.
the encoder strip could be dirty or behind the optical sensor causing a 76 error

It does rise. I'll upload a movie showing the behaviour of the printer.

Did that too, even though it is connected with error 76 rather than 75.

so are you getting BOTH error codes or has it now switched?

    No, only error 75.

    The machine in action.

Does anyone see any unusual behaviour?
