I think maybe you are missing the door that sits inside the rear door (called outer shute assy). When you open rear door there should be another before fuser.
How old is this machine, because there is a fuser and outer shute and cover mod, that goes in to early product run of this model. Machines affected are from the Initial production up to and including Serial No.'s K6J702822 (last 9 digits of S/N), this mod is to help with paper curling at exit causing jams. | |

Can anyone tell me what "mod" Soulvisitor is talking about? The reply seems incomplete?
I have an serial number "C5" (March/05) unit of MFC-8840D and it has this problem too.
