    Brother HL-5150D drum unit "salvaging"

After changing the drum and resetting the drum counter, the printer output was "spotty" (because of the fusing unit as I learned later). I tried another new drum (a Brother unit rebuilt by Xerox) and inadvertently reset again the drum counter. As far as I know, this process blows a fuse inside the drum.

Is there a way to salvage the second, practically brand new drum unit when the present drum will "wear out"?

You can use the other drum unit without a problem. Just go through the same reset process when installing the replacement drum unit. The machine reset a internal counter in the machine itself.

Maybe the problem is the drivers, so you can reinstall the drivers for this software, and you can get it from here: Brother HL-5150D Printer Drivers Download.
