Had a paper feed problem with this machine, found out it was the paper feed roller unit. Replaced it and now the machine says "check paper, load paper using lever." I have done everything I can think of to solve the problem but nothing is seeming to work. I have another one of the same machines here in the shop that I used to make sure the paper feed roller was the initial problem, which it was. So I put the new paper feed roller unit it to see what happens, and now it will say the same thing about checking the paper and using the lever. What am I missing?

You probably have to disassemble and reassemble the paper feed section - make sure the lever pivots with the gear properly. I'm doing this from memory, its been awhile since I touched one - but near the main pickup roller should be a few more that are probably really glazed with dust.
