    Brother MFC-8300 Low Toner indication

I have a Brother MFC-8300 that gives me a "Low Toner" message even after I put a new cartridge in. What could be the problem?

Try this, it work in most Brother machines.
This is a Toner Override, I think that it reset bias also.

    1. Open the front cover
    2. Press clear/options
    3. Do not press 1. or 2. as per display said for Drum reset.
    4. press *00
    5. Accepted message will appear
    6. Close and see if massage gone.

As far as i know this resets only bias.

Brother toner cartridges have flag gear on one side that push sensor inside the machine and says that new cartridge has been installed. Then machine counts limited number of copies (2k approximately). There is also optical sensor that "watch" throughout the bottom side of cartridge in case that spending more toner than anticipated (5% per page).
If you move that gear in starting position, and paint two transparent holes on cartridge (with pencil corrector), the printer will "think" that there is a new cartridge.

If the reset did not fix the problem. Then you may have a bad toner.

Did you replace your toner with a generic or oem?

Sometimes generic toner cause this problem.

if the other two fixes dont work... try open front door.. cheat the sensor to close use a spring hook to manually move the reset sensor one second after you cheat the from door.

It could also be a bad chip on the cartridge.
