Re: Brother 2820-Toner Life End
Toner empty is reset by the white gear encased on the left side of the toner unit actuating a small white switch on the frame inside the front of the machine located on the left side frame.
I have seen the tension spring disconnected & the entire switch actuating arm missing before.
Check that it is there. It is so small you may not even notice it, so it may be worth looking at another machine before you go back to this one to see exactly what you are looking for.
N.B you have to reset the gear on the cartridge to actuate the switch so that the toners are re-usable as it is a once only rotation on first fit and then it drops out of mesh with all the other gears and never moves again
Happy hunting

Re: Brother 2820-Toner Life End
Yes this is a common issue. Customers claims that they tried it with a new toner but either it's poorly made rebuilt/refill crap or the toner was already installed somewhere so the actuater mechanism won't reset the toner end condition. You can easily put the acuator in the "new" position if you gently push it this way while turning the toner supply roller against the running direction. Of course the switch actuator inside the machine might be bad as well but in at least 9/10 cases it's the toner cartridge.
