What would cause a ticking noise in the cassette of this Brother MFC-7440n while the paper is feeding? The only time this noise is heard is on multiple copy runs, never with single copies. It also only seems to make the noise when the paper tray is full. Also, if you push on the front of the paper tray the noise will stop. What would cause this, and how can I fix it? Thank you for any help given.
I don't know if it's similar ... but I had a MFC-8220 that chewed up the fuser gears and made a noticeable ticking noise, but still printed for another week. Unfortunately it took us nearly two weeks to get the gears. =^..^=

1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

the paper plate lift mechanism may not be mashing correctly. check the paper plate to see if it is seated correctly and not bent or twisted. Make sure the tray is not overfilled and run a sensor test on the T1 sensor and inspect it to make sure it is seated properly. You can also see the pickup and registration gears in action if you remove the left cover.
