    Travel charge

I was wondering what you guys charge per mile outside your area. I charge 1.50 per mile for travel time outside my 30 mile radius area. I drove 120 miles to service a copier and charged them about 187.50 for travel time plus my labor cost. I still had to drive the 2 hours back to my office. 30 years ago, the company I worked for charged 1.00 per mile outside a 30 mile radius. Am I cheap of what? Don't happen often

Haven't charged mileage for over 20 yrs. Most companies in my area don't charge mileage. If too far away I will turn away the business or if not too busy and can make some decent money I may take it without charging any extra for travel time.

We charge $0.56 a mile round trip but we also have minimum hour charges based on distance. Anything over 26 miles is 2 hours min, 60+ miles is 3 hours min.

We charge a flat "Trip Charge" for non-contract customers. Contract customers, part of their service rate is based on how far away from the office they are. (Some customers are 45-50 miles out from the office)

    Re: Travel charge

I used to charge the from the minute I got in my car until the time I got back to the office...they were own the clock.

One time I had to go on a service call out on an oil rig in the gulf. That involved getting in a helicopter and I don't even want to tell you how much I charged them.

If you have established a flat rate for Professional Service fees (I charge $95.00 hour) then half rate for travel time and full rate for onsite.
