Canon is buying Oce', will it effect you?
Canon is buying Oce', will it effect you?
oh yes i have oce and canon. omg!
I have to feel bad for my old colleagues as Imagistics. This would be the fourth time the company has changed hands in the past decade.
They blew some smoke up our ass today, as screwtape said time will tell. Was good to hear today NO direct Cannon office's in all Of Connecticut just a few small dealers from what I understand. But the are BIG. 180k direct employees.
I read yesterday on Bloomburg that the major stock holder in Oce has turned down Canon's first bid for the company saying that Canon has undervalued them.
So it isn't a done deal yet, as for it effecting my company - I don't think it would as I do not know of any Oce dealers in our area. Years ago we did look after an Oce machine which was just a re-badged CLC500!!!
The impossible is easy - miracles take a little longer
So let us not talk falsely now, the hour is getting late.
Same as the wide formats
I went to one site and saw a printer
With a Oce badge on it, and it was the same as iPF650
Now the Question is who is badging whos printer
The way I understand it is that other companies re-badge the Canon printers and either just change the logo and documentation or go a bit further and put their own style of panels on.
HP have been doing this with Canon for years and as well as getting the money for it also get priority access to the latest print drivers, as HP are one of the companies that create and release them to the rest of the industry.

Unfortunatelly Oce will disappear from the map!!!This is the end of the dutch company. You will see that Cannon will shut down the plant.Shame...
The Essentials Of Imaging
Most of the bigger OCE gear was made by the Dutch fellas. I have worked for a dealer and for OCE direct. They had some over engineered solutions many of which weren't as good as their competition. It was a great place to work in the early part of this decade, but they just got to be far to Greedy at least here in the US. OCE North America treated their employees poorly. It sounded like if you worked for headquarters they treated you really well. That said, however I haven't had another job since OCE that I have received a raise at. The company has been losing tons of money. Its pretty ironic that the second thing Google comes up with is when you search OCE is LAYOFFS.
Bottom Line: Some good machines, terrible management!
