    Laser Printer Service Contracts

Anyone have a service contract for laser printers? We currently have service contracts for copiers, faxes and multifunctionals but not for stand alone laser printers. We were thinking of offering these to our customers to increase revenues as well as to please the customers.

How do you price the contracts? What do you include?

We were thinking of something like charging for a maintenance kit and $125 in labor and covering all service on the machine for one year. The more we think about it, the more it doesn't make sense.

What is everyone else doing with printers?

    Just sell the toner cartridges.

Our company has an agreement that if you buy our toner cartridges we provide the service for free. nine out of ten agreements are profitable.

    Thumbs up

Blackcat - thanks for the reply. Do you have a way of monitoring if they are using your cartridge? Or are there any time limits?

We were thinking of doing the same thing but there were too many "what if" with it.

Do you also include fusers with the service? How much are you marking up the cartridges?

Thanks, I really appreciate the info

    Contracts

We compare cartridge yields to the actual # of cartridges ordered (and collect cores, our cores hopefully). It includes all parts (once they have had an evaluation, OK to start service agreement). If the machine is close to maintenance they must pay for the first maintenance. You'll have to decide for yourself about the markup on the cartridges. There is enough margin to cover the maintenance.
