Inkjets are pretty much a consumer focused business with very low margins, probably like all of the other inkjet vendors they sold the printer at or below cost to try and recoup the loss on consumable sales.
There's more money to be made chasing business class users with laser equipment, especially as HP no longer really makes a 'business' class machine despite their claims to the contrary.
It was just a heads up as to what's coming down the pike.
A simalar artical showed up today from industry analyst.
