    Do you mean Q-bond.

I use this stuff a lot but this stuff goes rock solid. You can mend broken gears with this if you are patient enough.
Before this i used super glue and bicarbonate of soda.

    Talking Re: instant plastic

Hey All: I've used Oatey Fix-it Stick in applications where medium strength, fast cure time and a putty form are required and when a piece(s) of the part is missing. You can get it at any of the big box home improvement stores. I've used it succesfully for components that are no longer available. It literally hardens within minutes after kneeding it together so you must work quickly with it before it cures!

Is Q-Bond better that Super glue and bicarbonate of soda? We used Instaplastic in the past and the boss said to just use the superglue route now, but if Q-bomd is a lot better I may be able to talk him into trying that.
    Thanks

Re: instant plastic / plastic repair

I find JB Weld Products to be quite good!:

    Epoxy & Adhesives | J-B Weld

I like the 5 minute epoxy!...I usually do a quick set with superglue (cyanoacrylate) and then use the 5 minute epoxy to give it strength!

There is also Methylene Chloride Solvent Cement!:

    Object moved

Water Clear and highly evaporative, it bonds acrylic to itself, basically melting or welding it--no heat involved!

It cures quickly for a strong bond.

PS--Thanks for the superglue and baking soda trick!!!

I also used to use the Bicarb and Super glue mix, not close as strong as Q-bond. I have fixed gears that is broken in two, door latches(metal to plastic) broken of paper tray faces, ADF latches and things to many to mention. does not take on some oily plastics the you just encase the thing you need to keep together in the stuff. Its a must for a toolbag.

Got me out of a lot of jams.

    Re: instant plastic

JB weld 5 min epoxy is the best i have found so far. JB Weld has a plastic epoxy also.

superglue and baking soda is good, but more as a filler rather than a super strong bond.

superglue on its own is very good when done the correct way and let to cure at least 30 min for maxmium effect. \
then there are different manufactures of super glue, which may not all have the exact formulars and therefore produce diffrent results.

There are new stuff on the hardware now i see that i have not tried. super glue with the separate activator is supposed to be very good from what i have read and seen on you tube demo. It comes in two piecies, the activator which you apply first and then the superglue.
