IR C1028iF - Auto Gradation Correcion issues

    Hi,

ever since running 'Auto Gradation Correcion - Full Correction' I have the problem that all prints have a slight magenta cast in background areas that are supposed to be white, in fact the whole printed area is covered with magenta.

I tried different papers for the correction (all white), both with and without additional sheets when scanning the prints. The amount of magenta varies (from A LOT to hardly noticeable), but I cannot get it to disappear.

Is there a way to get around this ?

Maybe reset the Correction Data ? It was not happening before the correction.

    - Marco

    Hi
it is possible that there is a missing connection to the HVT PCB.
On this machine the drum unit has 2 contact points that receive charges on the left side. There is small square silver contact and a rectangular copper contact.
If there is no connection with the copper contact the unit will give a light background over the entire page including the blank area. The background will be the color of the drum that is missing the connection.

I'll check this when I get back home.

But I think it's more related to the Auto Gradation (as it varies depending on how I do the correction, and started after the first correction).

Also, when printing in Postscript mode with Acrobat, this does not happen. Background is pure white as it should be.

The same PDF printed with Apples Preview shows the magenta background (happens also in Safari and Firefox, haven' tried all apps yet).

Do \or did u have background on Gradation Sheets before placing on glass_?

Or does background appear after first test sheet
    on next sheets_?

    - Both Gradation sheets look clean, I checked the white areas with the microscope.
    - Printing with Acrobat also produces clean prints.
    - Printing from other apps gives a slightly tinted background, under the microscope I found there to be magenta and some yellow dots where should be pure white (Mac 10.10).

I have the PS option installed and use the latest PS driver.

Yellow Dots are a Security Pattern, all Manufactures use some type dot pattern (almost invisible to naked eye) on Color products ( Counterfeit Identity Protection Location )

Most color laser printers and color copiers are designed to print invisible tracking codes across every single printed page of their output. These codes reveal which machine produced a document and, in some cases, when the document was printed or copied.

    What other apps ??

    What drivers are used ??
--PDL Support = Standard UFR II LT, PCL 5c/6
    or
--Optional PostScript (PS Print Kit-AK1 Needed)

What about copying of Glass ??

Thanks for the infos on the yellow dots

I did another gradation correction, now it's much more visible (it's constant between corrections).

I am printing with the PS driver, PS option installed.

    - Adobe Acrobat and Acrobat Reader print fine, also MS Word.
    - Safari, Chrome, Firefox, OpenOffice, Apple Pages all show the megantain the background.
    - Copy from glass: white background, no magenta.

I do not use UFR on the Mac, as its prints are horrible (Windows UFR driver is much better).

Is there a way to clear this correction data without resetting the whole device ?

    ----- Update

I was testing some more ...

The magenta appears when Apps print white areas. Which is the case for all the webbrowsers, they set the background to explicit white.

Acrobat prints are Ok because its setting the background to transparent (PDF generated by OO).

So this is the 'correction' kicking in, trying to print white and doing some color correction which inserts the magenta.

Any ideas how I can get this out of the printer are greatly appreciated
