    W2 Finisher not corner stapling

First of all I'd like to thank everyone on these forums, there's a lot of great information out here and I've been learning a lot about Canon copiers and what makes them tick.

    On to my question/concern:

I have an IRC4580 with a W-2 Finisher that was giving me issues with the stapler, it kept error coding e531-8001 and e531-8002. After messing around with it for a bit, I went ahead and replaced the stapler motor and the flat ribbon connector going to the stapler motor.

This solved the error code issues.

However, now when I set the finisher to single staple in the corners, it does not hit the paper it seems. When I watch it work through a cycle it appears that the stapler is trying to staple, but it is not hitting the paper itself. When I set the finisher to double staple on either side, it does go through the paper and staple it together.

I only have a parts manual and installation guide. With a little bit of research, I saw for a different finisher that there is some adjustments that can be done with the switches on the back of the controller, but without the actual service guide I am unable to find the procedure.

I'm hoping that someone here can steer me in the right direction and I can get this copier working at its full potential.

    Thanks in advance.

if its stapling and theres no staples present, there could be a staple jam. you might have to take the staple unit out and check
