    Canon IrC2020 Adv. not recieving FAX (not answering)

    Hi Guys,

    This time no printing problem, just a fax problem:

    Customer would like to use the 2020 to send and recieve faxes. They never used the function before, alltough the 2020 has a faxboard since install.
    Sending a fax works without problems, but it doen's recieve faxes. I don't "see" the ringsignal coming in, i don't even hear it. When connecting a standard faxmachine, recieve works so the line is ok.

    Tried a 2 wire phonecable in stead of a 4 wire, no go. Checked all the settings (customer has been fiddeling with it), no go...

    Canon said it might be a setting in servicemode (SSW - SW04, second from the right should be 1 insead of 0 ?) but no one has ever been there in servicemode.

    Any way to check what's wrong ? I don't hear a ring on the machine, so i don't even know where to begin to troubleshoot. And when i call the number manually, it just keeps ringing, it's never answered...

    I'v had my share of probs. with the 202, but never ever had to do troubleshooting on the Fax...

    You can try to connect a telephone direcly to the line to check if you can recieve phone calls......line problems may be.....

      When connecting a standard faxmachine, recieve works so the line is ok.

          Have you set the country in service mode? occasionally not doing this causes the problem you are having

          Service Mode (level 1) > FAX > TYPE > TYPE

            Sorry Guys,

            didn't intend to be rude but havent had the chance to go onsite to check the suggestions above.

            My partner whent to hospital on 14/7 and is in Intensive Care

            So to be continued later....

              Well, that was it... Type was "Standard", i changed it to "Holland" and it worked !

                  Will this clear out the customers address book, email addresses etc? I have a customer with an Adv C2030 they just purchased used. It had a message saying something about RX would be forwarded to an email (a setting for previous owner). We cleared out the email address under forwarding rules but it still just rings if someone tries to fax them. They can send faxes fine. Unfortunately, they already added all their addresses etc so I don't want to do a reset to factory settings but not sure what else to check.

                    Reminder

                    The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2020 / C2030 is capable of only Backup & Restore of the DC Controller.

                    To BACKUP DC Controller data prior to clearing or replacement:
                    Enter Service Mode Level 2 > Copier > Function > System >< DSRAMBUP>
                    Highlight DSRAMBUP and select OK, item will indicate "Active" and end with "OK." At this point, it's now ok to replace or clear the DC Controller.

                    To RESTORE DC Controller data:
                    Enter Service Mode Level 2 > Copier > Function > System >< DSRAMRES >
                    Highlight DSRAMRES and select OK, item will indicate "Active" and end with "OK." At this point, DC Controller Data has been restored.
