    ImagePass B-1 Canon IRADVC5051

I am attempting to install a B-1 on a Canon IRADVC5051. I do not have the installation guide.

I know you have to set the Options Interface setting to 3 before installation. However after installing

and trying to set printer settings for the network all it does is sit there and displays wait.

After 9 minutes the copier reset. I have installed C-1's on 3220's and remember it took awhile before

the settings screen came up but isn't 9 minutes more than it should take for that to happen.

If anyone has the installation guide for the B-1 to go on the 5051 I would appreciate it.

I have an installation and service guide but it does not tell how to install it on the copier.

I now have the installation guide. I did everything correctly.

Just need to know about the normal duration of the wait time.

IMG-CONT setting on the imageRUNNER ADVANCE must be set to "3" first and the printer restarted to confirm the setting is still set to 3 before the imagePASS B1 is attached.

    Disconnect B1 from printer
    Place IMG-CONT back to"0"
    Power off_on
While on _Place IMG-CONT back to"3"
Exit> restart printer & confirm setting
    Connect B1
When looking at the imagePASS connector it is marked for correct connection; the "A" side should face toward the rear of the engine.

Now go in and input your Network settings.

I am awaiting a different B-1 to come in. I am getting conflicting info on memory requirement

to use the ImagePass. Does it require additional memory for the copier or is that just an option?

Memory capacity mounted with this equipment?

    Answer :
    - Memory A (SOC memory) has 1GB.
Memory capacity becomes 1.5GB by adding the option expansion memory for Type B (512MG).
Depending on the location, some models introduce 1.5GB for Memory A (SOC memory) as standard.

    - Memory B (IA memory) has 1GB.
Memory capacity can be checked by going through the following:
Service Mode > COPIER > Display > ACC-STS > RAM to check the capacity of Memory A; IA-RAM to check capacity of Memory B

    Reference
Memory A needs to be added >
when adding Direct Print Kit-H1, PS Printer Kit-AE1 or imagePASS-B1.

I did a complete reinstall as you suggested.
    "Disconnect B1 from printer
    Place IMG-CONT back to"0"
    Power off_on
While on _Place IMG-CONT back to"3"
Exit> restart printer & confirm setting
    Connect B1
When looking at the imagePASS connector it is marked for correct connection; the "A" side should face toward the rear of the engine.
Including uninstalling and reinstalling I/F pcb.
I noticed that cable connector is "D" shaped. But I could see how someone could get it wrong.
The two digit number was 66..not sure what that means.

The machine the unit is going to be installed on has 1.5 G ram and 1.0 G IA-Ram. So if I read that pub right that should be enough memory
for the B-1 to operate. They did send along an extra 5 M memory with this replacement B-1. There were no instructions for where to install it.
    Do you have that info?

    Okay it works..Thanks Teckat!!

Now if I transfer the ImagePass to another copier, as long as I follow the same set up procedure, there
    should be no problem?

    Re: ImagePass B-1 Canon IRADVC5051

Yes both machines are IRADVC5000's. We received another used B-1 Unit and I installed it on
a machine inshop today to test before I install it on a customers machine.

The second one they sent works just fine. It let me get into print settings and
    I can print to it.

The reason we went the imagepass is because the customer complained of color mismatch.
I do see a difference with the Imagepass as compared to the regular Canon print engine.

Not sure if it will satisfy them. The colors seem be more accurate when they print to
    a HP they have.

We have had color machines out for a long time and I have never had anyone complain about
    colors matching.

I have read the topics about color calibration for both the plain copier and the B-1.
I do not have a color chart that is required for B-1 calibration. They do not include that
stuff with these used ImagePass Controllers. Is there a part number I can use to order from Canon?
