Canon IR 4075 ir 3045 grinding Noise

    Hi All,

Im hearing a grinding noise on my IR 4075 every Start up, and i makes noise until i start making copies.
    It grinds every 1-2 seconds.
I tried opening the upper part of the door and make copies. I found out that the Fuser / Fixing Gears are grinding.
Here's the picture of Fuser / Fixing Gears, White on the right part of the biggest gear (in contact with main gear) shows friction damage.

Here's the Picture of the gear the drives the fuser, also shows friction damages.

I tried removing the Fuser / Fixing Gears and clean it. and it makes the same noise.
    Thanks for your help.

We have the same problem, I lubricated the fuser film with silicon oil with lithium grease it's ok. Just a little crackling sound now (not all the time) but I think I have to change the gears.

I was able to solve the problem by swapping my fixing unit of my 4075 an 3045.
i found another fix, Remove and clean the fixing gears to remove grease. do this also on the gear that drives the fixing unit. (2nd picture above)
You can actually put the gear on its other side. you can do this on the fixing drive and on the fixing gears.

Re: Canon IR 4075 ir 3045 grinding Noise

After i swapped the fixing unit of my 4570 to my 3045 it was working fine for a day.
now my 3045 makes the grinding noise. so i guess it was the fixing unit of 4570.
it grinds on start up/Boot up but do not make any grinding noise while initiating or making copies.

    any suggestions?

By the way my 3045 now gives me error E000007-0000 which means the fixing unit temp was abnormally high.
i Did disassemble the fixing unit/Fuser unit once. any guess what i did wrong?

Issue completely fixed, i change the fuser/fixing film and lubricate with fuser/fixing grease and mix with silicone oil..

i don't recommend using lithium grease since it have some petroleum based element that weakens plastic..
Make sure that you didn't interchange the two plastic support on both fuser end.

Now all good. I found another issue but fixed it right away..
My 3045 4570 have a offset finisher, when i copy with collate + Offset, sometimes the finisher missed some copies.

    Solution:
    1. Pull the finisher and remove the screws until you open the top part exposing the finisher mechanism.
    2. Lubricate gears with Silicone oil
    3. Remove the worn Foam pads on this part, you cant see it on the picture until you remove the casing of the finisher...
There's a worn foam that turns sticky and delays retraction of the finisher.

the foam is placed to prevent noisy retraction. this foam eventually gets sticky and causes several jams on different parts of machine..

sometimes I really need technicians but difficult to find them at once. thanks sa info. I need it really.
I also got two IR5000 besides this two IR3750, the last has a slow performance. I'm too busy to do some fixing work.

    Marikina

me too, i also have a job at the same time.
IR 4570 and 3045 perform lower cost per copy than IR 5000 6000+. better to buy 3045 than one IR6000+
Most copy center believe that IR 5000 6000+ esp IR 6055 have the lowest operating cost.
given the fact that one 6055 can buy you 4 units of 3045..
