Canon C5030 New to me
I just got the service manual and I am beginning to work on a unit for a customer.
I have not worked on this model before and I just thought to ask, "How much trouble
am I in for with this model." Anything odd I should know about?
Is this a fairly good unit? My customer will not be doing to much more than 2-3 thousand
pages in color per month. But I really don't know.
Thanks

Re: Canon C5030 New to me
There have been a wealth of tech pubs on issues in this Advanced Series.
Too many to list here, First thing is to make sure FIRMWARE is up to date.

Re: Canon C5030 New to me
Teckat,
I printed the copy service report from P-print. The DC-CON version is 63.01.
A page and a half later it ends the firmware versions for everything in the machine. Do these usually
update when the DC-CON is updated?
I noticed that some of the items under counter are over their rated life. Like the T-CLN-BD sez 195%.
It looks like the transfer cleaning blade. The copies are clear and sharp. Looks good b/w & clr.
So how far over the rated life do some of the parts go?
I was looking for a way to change the toner. It's not asking for it but I saw something about that you
have to tell it to open the toner door?
I need to look for an operators handbook or disc.
Thank teckat

How to open Toner Doors From the Control Panel
:-))
In Service Mode Level 2 make the following change. COPIER>OPTION>DSPLY-SW> T-CRG-SW. Set T-CRG-SW to a 1.
Exit Service Mode and perform the following:
In User Mode, enter SETTINGS AND REGISTRATION>ADJUSTMENTS/MAINTENANCE> MAINTENANCE> REPLACE SPECIFIED TONER.
Physically open the outer toner cover. From the drop down menu, select replacement not needed, then select which toner doors you want to open. The Blue remove toner cartridge button on the bottom of the screen will now become active.
After pressing the blue button, a message will appear; "the selected toner can still be used do you want to replace it? At this point, select YES. The toner doors will open at this time.
