ImagePress C1 with ImagePass C1 password

Hello everyone. This is my first post here.

I'm working on configuring a used ImagePress C1, which has the little ImagePass C1 RIP attached to the back, however this RIP appears to have a password to access the printer setup. I do not know if this is the default password, or one that has been set. I have tried 0000 and 1234 and 12345678 with no success. Are there any other default passwords I should try, and if these are unsuccessful, can the password be reset?

According to Canon you have to formatt the C1 hard drive and reload the software. Sorry man.

OK, the default fiery password worked.

Alex, is there some reason it shouldn't be posted online?

Glad that it worked, the reason for not posting online is
not to divulge information to an end user - I have had customer's 'accidently' clear the server back to factory defaults on numerous times- i prefer to set the password to part of the serial number of the machine it is attached to-and every engineer within our company knows this

I don't really think that's fair to withhold that information, if your customers are messing up machines you service perhaps that should be part of the service contract rather than hoping for security through obscurity. I'm new to the copier trade, having worked with just with computers in the past and this seems rather strange to me. Is this standard in the industry?

so for example when setting up a client's router would you have left the default security on it ,say netgear for example ,that uses 'admin' as login & 'password' for the password- i hope not as you would'nt be doing your job properly.

It's pretty obvious from your 1st post that you know what your doing -you could easily pm anyone of us for the info-it's just that i think, personally, some information is best left out of the public domain.

as you state your setting a c1 when the rip is finally set up with the correct profile(s),calibrated and everything is working perfectly do you want someone dumping it all?

you could easily leave either the default or by this stage i hope a different one with your key operator-at least then you know who would have done what.
