Canon DR-G1100 Scanner

Anyone cross trained on this machine? It is jamming when feeding variable thickness paper. The machine is a few years old and has never done this before.
We have thought about replacing the sonic sensor board, but the felling is that's not going to help. I appears to be a bad sensor of some kind or a setting change that someone has done and won't admit to. Paper feed fine (no tire slipage or anything), but jams at exit (Paper does not completely exit machine). At the user panel there is a setting for auto paper thickness (I think). Low Normal High are the options these have no effect. Any help is appreciated.
