Canon ir2220 can't connect to print yet can connect to the web admin page??

Hi,

Not a copy tech but an IT person who's installed many network printers and copiers.

We just bought a refurb Canon ir2220 from a used copy store. They're not being much help so I'm hoping to see if anyone has a suggestion.

I've tried installing this network copier on 3 different computers, using two different methods and I can't get it to print.

Method 1) Standard "add a printer"

Added it like any other printer. Added a new port pointing to it's IP address. When I try this method, it says the device cannot be contacted over the network and gives me a list of device network cards. I've tried to install it with the generic network card in the windows list. It will install, but not print and show as "needs troubleshooting". Troubleshooting reveals it cannot be contacted through the network.

Method 2) Newest Canon install software / driver

It won't find the printer automatically and when I add it manually, I get stopped at the same place after entering a new port with the ip address of the copier. It says "additional port information required, the device is not found on the network......"

I've diagnosed it as a network card issue but to my surprise it registered itself with our network and allows for the web admin access.

Set it to DHCP in the same screen as you would put in the IP address. Highlight the DHCP button and reboot. I am assuming that this model has the network Boot chip installed.

Hey everyone,

1) I removed the domain name completely
2) I tried DHCP on
3) I turned on RAW

Still no dice. Could the network card still be defective even though it's registering and accessible through the web? Is there a firmware update I could try?

Is there a way to factory reset the unit? I feel that the used copy place didn't do a great job at cleaning out the old network settings and something may still be actively working against us.

Also, I removed the MAC address since I didn't know if it was directly traceable. Force of habit when on server forums (removing all information tied to the server).

service mode > copier > function > clear > mmi ok

nothing else.

press the yellow reset button to exit service mode

reboot the machine, and turn on dhcp and restart again
