    Replacement instructions for cable (Canon IPF8300 QM3 - 2005 - 020)

    Replacement instructions for cable canon IPF8300 QM3 - 2005 - 020

Looking for replacement instructions for flexible cable (Canon IPF8300 QM3 - 2005 - 020). Have cable in hand, just need guidance.

Update: Managed to install new flexible cable. See related video: https://youtu.be/RVrJjNsD_0I. Somewhat humorous but not much help. It does give you an idea of how much effort goes into a cable replacement. I'd be curious what manual is being referenced in the video. Anybody know? Seems to be full of photos.

After installing the cable and restarting the printer there is a "Close open cover" error. So something has changed. I unplugged the printer and held down the power button to empty cache. Restarted in service more with cover open and after error presented closed the cover - no change. I'm stuck - any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Mike

A Poor Flex Cable connection can display a close cover message, make sure you did not damage that cable on install.
    It happens frequently.

Also ,To properly fold the Flex Cable, folding indicator lines have been printed diretly on the cable itself.
A Red (or sometimes Blue) line indicates an outside fold.
A Black line indicates an inside fold

    Also,
    Check top cover interlock switches.
    Does it say which cover_?

To the best of my knowledge the flex cable was not damaged on install. Rechecked all cables and their connections.

All folds were made as you have indicated.

Checked interlock switches - all are intact and functioning mechanically. When top cover is opened and closed there is an almost invisible flicker on the LED panel.

"Close Carriage Cover" displays on LED panel. There is only one cover that I am aware of.

I removed print heads and rebooted in Service Mode - same thing.
Replaced print heads - same thing.
    Both print heads are new.

    Stymied!

Any other ideas I might try?

    Thanks,

    Mike

There are only two ways to check if Flex Cable is working,
    1. Flexible Cable Checker Tool
    2. How to Video instructions from Canon (not using checker tool.

    Are either of these available?

Thank you for all the info. Since I am not a Canon Service Tech, I assume that both of these solutions are unavailable to me. Looks like a nice tool, but may cost more (even if I could source one) than trying another new flex cable.
