Canon IPF 710 media paper is not being recognized

I posted this before. I believe one of the sensors are bad or dirty? the paper media is not being recognized. on the roll selection I get an error "paper size not detected" on the sheet selection I get " leading edge not lined up w/orange line" when I go into menu there isn't and media noticed. I tried finding the sensors but cannot. I've looked for a blow up of the schematic but cannot find any. I'm assuming it's on the print head somewhere?

I would have thought that the media sensor would be located on the carriage, but the very general illustration seems to put it in the lower paper path.

If it helps any, the Media Sensor SR7 is a reflective sensor. The signal name is /MEDIA_R, and it wires back to J2503 on the controller:

    J2503
    pin1: ground
    pin2: media sensor output signal
    pin3: 5vdc supply voltage

I think I would put my meter on pins #1 and #2 at J2503 on the controller, and watch for a signal change, something like 0.2vdc to 5.0vdc. Hopefully you can locate the sensor and block it yourself for testing purposes.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I am not sure on this old series but usually it is not the sensor.

Anyway you should clean the multi sensor located on the left of the carriage (although I never seen any go bad).

If you can get your hands on another main board for a switch - that would be nice

    hope this helps.
