Canon IR2200 opening and closing trays and covers-jam does not reset.

If I put the machine into a false jam; then follow the instructions on panel to remove jam machine will not reset.

The panel instructs me to close by-pass and open right cover- next remove any paper- open cassette tray and remove paper- close tray- close right cover.

I have to turn the machine off using main switch and turn it back on for the machine to go into standby.

I did a i/o check of the switches and they are in there normal state. Anyone run into this problem? If so what did you find.

    Thanks.

    What jam code? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I removed all cassettes except cassette 1.
I put the machine into a false jam by taping a sheet of paper so it would not feed from cassette one-
what Jam Code would you expect?

I checked my report and the 3 most current jam codes where FFFF, 0426, 0407. Now I'm really confused! I can't figure these out.

Still main problem can't reset machine normally when there is a false jam- have to turn machine off and back on.

    Thanks for your patience.

Checked notes again looking at wrong column; jam codes are 0105; 0105 and 0106 are the first 3 codes in display.

Try to clean the sensors in the jam areas indicated.
Also try to check on the sensor flags to ensure that they play normally.
Sometimes this machine tends to be sturbbon and clearing the DC con solves the problem ie COPIER>FUNCTION>CLEAR>DC CON>OK.There after switch OFF and ON the machine.

Re: Canon IR2200 opening and closing trays and covers-jam does not reset.

Jam codes 0105 & 0106 are pick up jams, basically for what ever reason the machine did not pick up any paper from the tray to the first sensor. Most likely cause is worn feed rollers. (replace all 3, the pickup, feed & separation)

However you should be able to clear this jam simply by opening the right door & the cassette the paper was picked up from (or not in this case) close all the covers & the machine will try again to feed/pick up the first sheet.

If I can add to that, this series of machines was well known for lift ratchet failures. So the paper stack lifts to a certain point, but when it reaches the damaged teeth on the ratchet does not raise any higher, making poor contact with the pickup roller.

This post also covers this topic:
IR-330 Out of paper then not.
    IR3300 tray lift mech
    IR2200 tray 1+2 lift broken.....fix or replace??

considering he taped a sheet of paper to prevent feed, i think he gets the jam code you'd expect..
I'm just wondering why you would create a jam..

And yes, sometimes the machines are stubborn in clearing the jam code. I usually go round opening every door, drawer etc. and the closing them, if that doesn't help, i switch off and back on again..

Re: Canon IR2200 opening and closing trays and covers-jam does not reset.

JPiek got the question!!! Everyone is trying to figure out how to stop the jams- that I created!

The problem was the machine not resetting after removing jam.

Regardless- The customer has been complaining about jams so I thank you all for your recommendations.

I am going to remove the Paper Section- One of the cassette lifts are making noise.

    Thanks.
