First make sure none of the hard keys are stuck, they all must have a easy release back up when pressed.

Also check connections on main 2 pcb.

Check if the energy saver button still works. I had this and it was the 'cpu' board in the control panel assembly. There was an article but i can't find it, something about the clock cycle going out of whack.

    Thank, Jason

There is a modified CPU board for this fault, details are on Sims. Change the board update the firmware and will work perfect. The firmware needs to be decoded through service support tool and transfer to a USB stick and hold down 2+8 and follow the on screen instructions.

Firmware does not have to be decoded through SST on this model. Just download the USB packaged version...

control panel lockups or there is a slow Response on the screen, and slow responding keys. The symptom includes the touch panel and 10 key pad does not respond correctly but only the Energy Saver key works fine

Replacing the CPU under the control panel resolved the problem.

    imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5030 / C5035 / C5045 / C5051 CPU PCB assembly is FM3-7994-000
    imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5235 / C5240 / C5250 / C5255 CPU PCB assembly is FM4-9880-000

    or-------------------
Sometimes dirt can buildup between the touch panel and the control panel cover. This buildup over time causes downward pressure to the touch panel and it stops responding. Going around the entire perimeter of the screen, take a business card or other firm type of media and slide it between the touch panel and the control panel cover.

or try1. Turn OFF the main power switch and check that the Control Panel LED is off
    2. Using a pen point, press the test button of the breaker on the rear side of the machine
    3. Check that the breaker switch is OFF (O side)
    4. Return the breaker switch to ON (I side)
    5. Turn ON the main power switch

9880 is old number. Order FM1-R833...Canon will sub it anyway. Changed dozens of these things

In Europe we still have to use sst as there are no flash ready downloads, however as the original poster appears to be in New Jersey this reply is mainly irrelevant.

    ==========================================

    [Symptom]
The touch panel in the control panel assembly and the numbers key top may have slow response or may not respond properly
against input although the sleep key top works properly.
    [Cause]
A failure of the clock in the CPU chip of CPU PCB assembly is the cause. There are reports stating that the issue occurred about
6 months to 2 years after start of use.
[Reference] The sleep key top is not affected by the failure in the CPU chip and continues to work properly because the sleep
key top does not require CPU PCB assembly to work.
    [Service work]
When the above symptom occurs, replace the CPU PCB assembly with the new type according to the table below.
[Note] When the issue occurs, check that only the sleep key top works properly. If it does not work either, check for other causes.

When you think you have made a procedure idiot proof your company employs a better idiot.

C5235 frozen key op panel. Is there a Tech bulletin about this? Someone said there was but I can not seem to find it.
