    uniFLOW Support

As uniFLOW is a complex software offering, Canon has established the following support guideline and documented informational resources below to assist our solution providers in resolving issues that arise in our end customers uniFLOW installations.

    Escalation Information

    • uniFLOW Incident Report - The uniFLOW Incident Report asks for the site, customer and issue information that is critical in assisting the engineering teams to investigate to issue resolution. If a uniFLOW case is not resolved by the Technical Support Center and is escalated, completing the Incident Report is the next step towards resolution. A case can be escalated from the TSC without the Incident Report, but it will be the first item required by the Engineering team to make any progress in resolving the issue. Providing the Incident Report at the time of first call to the TSC will assist the TSC in troubleshooting the issue as well as expedite the escalation to issue resolution. The uniFLOW Incident Report can be obtained from Technical Publication TP12 197 (Article ID 82162).
    • Escalation Requirements Whitepaper - As each uniFLOW implementation is unique, different information (logs and screenshots) may be required for each case. The NT-ware uniFLOW Escalation Requirements Whitepaper outlines what information is required for the different types of issues that may arise. The Escalation Requirements Whitepaper is available on the NT-ware ITS Site in MOMKB-245.
    • Escalation Handbook Whitepaper - The Escalation Handbook provides information on the escalation process and assists the dealer with escalating uniFLOW issues to Canon USA and NT-ware. The NT-Ware escalation handbook can be found on the NT-ware ITS in MOMKB-607.
    • ITS Guide Whitepaper - NT-Ware has provided a guide on the use of their Issue Tracking System (ITS). This whitepaper provides you with the information necessary to successfully use ITS to assist you with issue tracking and resolution. The NT-Ware ITS Guide can be found on the NT-ware ITS in MOMKB-607.

    uniFLOW Webinars

    • uniFLOW Log Collection - The uniFLOW Log Collection webinar was designed to introduce you to the various logs available to troubleshoot issues within the uniFLOW product and how to collect each log for issue escalation. The webinar will detail each log, contents of the log, procedure to collect the log and some resources to assist you with the escalations process to determine responsibilities and requirements of the escalation process along with a summary of what information is required based on your issue.

To download the WEBEX ARF Player: https://canonproductmarketing.webex.com/client/T29L/nbr2player.msi

    • uniFLOW Log Analysis - This webinar was designed to build on the uniFLOW Log Collection webinar to assist our dealer community in analysing the various logs available to troubleshoot issues within uniFLOW to assist with the investigation and provide resolution based on findings.

Re: uniFlow: Printer Status - How to configure

Configure scan to home folder workflow using Universal Send in uniFLOW ?

Scan to home folder using Canon scan and send (Universal Send) workflow works by sending an email from the copier to uniFLOWserver or RPS with email address myfolder@uniFLOW.

uniFLOW tracks this email alias and when it receives an email with this address, the attachment will be sent via SMB to either the Personal Folder configured for the user, or the Default target folderconfigured in server configuration. uniFLOW checks to see if there is a Personal Folder for the user first, and if there is no Personal Folder populated, it will send to the Default target folder.

    Canon MFP Configuration:
    1. Settings/Registration > Function Settings > Send > Communications Settings - E-Mail/I-Fax Settings > Email Settings > Set Authorized User Destination to Sender to Enabled

*Please note, this setting will only be available if a login service such as ULM is currently installed and enabled.

    2. Settings/Registration > Function Settings > Send > Network Settings - E-Mail/I-Fax Settings > Enter IP address of uF server for SMTP server, or if the MFP is connected to an RPS, use the RPS IP address.

    3. Settings/Registration > Preferences > Network Settings > DNS Settings (IPv4) > Ensure DNS Settings are populated with a DNS server that can resolve the email address and domain.

    4. Create an address book entry in address lists for email address myfolder@uniFLOW.

    SMTP Server Configuration:

    In uniFLOW server configuration,

Server Config. > Notification > SMTP Server > Populate with customer's email server settings.

Any errors that occurred during the scan to home folder workflow will be sent to the user's personal email using the SMTP settings specified here.

In Printer > Advanced Printer Configuration > Device Agents

Ensure that MIND SMTP Email Control is selected under other. Also ensure the address field is populated with the IP address of the copier:

    Personal Folder Configuration:

    1. In order to specify the personal folder for a user, go to uniFLOW Server Configuration > Base Data > User > General > Personal Folder.

    2. Enter the path to the folder in UNC format. In the below example, the path to the user's shared folder is \\FileServer\users\Admin

    3. The folder will automatically be created on the file server if it doesn't exist, provided the user possesses the respective permissions.

    Default Target Folder Configuration:
In case no Personal Folder is configured, uniFLOW checks if a Default target folder has been configured.

    1. In order to specify the default target folder, go to uniFLOW Server Configuration > Server Config. > Notification > General > Scan to Folder.

    2. Enter the path to the folder in UNC format. In the below example, we use \\FileServer\users\%u
Note that you can specify tokens in order to dynamically create folder names. The token used in the example will use the username in the folder path.

    3. Enter the user name and password for a user with permissions to create folders on the network share

    4. The folder will automatically be created on the file server if it does not exist, provided the user possesses the respective permissions.

    5. You can use Save + Test Access button to test uniFLOW access to the shared folder with current settings.

    File Name

By default, the name of the attached scan will include the server name, the device name and the original file name including the extension. The parameter Attachment Naming Convention of the Device Agent MIND SMTP Email Control allows you to change this.

In the below example, the file name will be saved as User Login_Server name_original file name including extension.

    List of available tokens are:

%f - Original file name including extension.
%F - Original filename without extension.
%E - just the extension of the file, without the '.'
    %y - Current Year (4 digits)
    %m - Current Month
    %d - Current day
    %H - Current Hour
    %M - Current Minute
    %S - Current Second
    %u - User Name
    %l - User Login
    %n - uniFLOW printer name
    %s - Server name

If configured with the parameter Write XML Descriptor, uniFLOW will also generate an XML descriptor file for the scan. This file contains additional information about the scan, such as who scanned the document and the recipient to to whom the scan was sent.
