I trust you are using genuine Canon toner?
If you remove the drum can you see the lines on it, e.g is the blade not cleaning the drum?

    serviceman678,
Did you ever solve this problem? It sounds a lot like what I am looking at.
I just sold this IRA4245. I put an aftermarket drum kit in the image cartridge.
It seemed fairly straight forward. Powdered the blade and drum, replace the
primary charge roller. The copies looked great afterwards.
3 days later customer calls with lines and back ground. It I adjust the
dev offset to -20 it goes away.
Has anyone else seen this problem? And
    What is it?

    Thanks

    DR

    Re: canon advanced 4245

    Phil B,
Funny you should say that. I thought it looked like a Katun drum so I called precision roller and they assured me it was not.
A friend of mine just tried this drum in one of his 10 machines and that one came up with the same problem. We compared
samples and they look the same. Lots of thin lines and background.
Time to get an OEM drum and put the offset back to 0.

    Thanks for the confirmation

Well, a couple of other techs came up with the same problem. Precision Roller called me today and said they called
their supplier and they confirmed the problem is the drum kit. They are asking for the parts back so they can figure
out what is wrong. Precision said they would refund my kit cost.
I like it when a company does the right thing. Thanks Precision.

The key point here is only buy genuine or risk loosing your customer base to dealers that do.
A good salsman will go in & use this against you or your company!

    copier tech,
    Hard to argue that point.
But I have had success with some aftermarket drum kits.
    But it is risky.
