    Canon IR3235 poor quality printing.

Hi, one client is reporting really poor printing quality, attached are some scans hope the issue can be clearly seen.

They use generic toner refills, and about 3/10 of prinbt jobs have loose toner that can be removed with a finger tip, any advice appreciated

yeah thats the first suspect, since the fuser and fixing unit print just fine on another machine.

Canon toners are made with fine particles and high quality. Cheap junk toner is more closer to small pieces of finely chopped sand. Its harder to melt sand.

But do check your fuser settings to make sure they were not adjusted for high humidity. Normally these do a good job of adjusting themselves for humidity.

Re: Canon IR3235 poor quality printing.

My only experience with generic Canon toner was on IRA c5030 copiers. After a while I noticed that the waste containers were filling up much faster with generic than they had with genuine toner even though the print volume was about the same. So a lot of toner was going to waste, negating some of the cost savings.
We also developed a ghosting problem which disappeared after only after returning to genuine toner and purging the generic stuff out of the machine.
Also, since generic toner is gritty it will cause parts to wear out faster. Drums are more likely to fail prematurely, for example.
Maybe the generic stuff is not they bargain they think it is. If they can't go all genuine then they should at least go with genuine black, which isn't usually much more expensive than the generic.

Thanks ill look into this, just wondering if you are referring to the fixing temperature in service mode level 1? please elaborate.

Hi, do you remember if your ghosting problems were simi8lar to the ones in the attachment on this post? those are from yesterday tests, we only changed the fixing density and problem was reduced but not solved, it looks like somew toner isnt melting properly causeing that "wiping" effect, we have taken fuser film out of the equation since that same fguse prints just fine on another machine.

Also we testede with another brand of generic toner (Katun) and problem persists.

That internal Print shown, is that a copy of it off glass or is it a direct internal print

if it's a glass copy issue only ----inspect and or replace the Ribbon Cable to the Carriage Unit ----CCD, Cable FM3-7133-000

if issue is on all prints and copies
    check position of
Grounding Tab of the Registration Roller.
also check for any excess grease on the Grounding Tab

Do what Teckat Said. This looks more like an electrical- toner popping issue. We have adjusted for this on a HVT Board in the old ir5800, not as drastic as your example but similar. Yes I was referring to the temp settings for the fuser. Option/ Body/ fixing set to O. Temp Con set to 0 ?
What I would do is vacuum out the developer unit. A few screws on top and the dev cover comes off. Easy and quick task onsite. Move the mag roller around and get all of it out. Then put in Genuine Canon toner. Check Dev Bias setting under ADJUSTMENT for developer unit. Make it door spec in case someone has messed around with that. You can turn up or down the bias and see if you can get the dev unit and toner to cooperate as a temp solution. Change paper to insure no humidity, moisture or quality issue. Generic toners dont work well in these machines!

The ghosting problem I had on the c5030 was a ghost image of the previous page, not the same as what you are seeing.

Yes that tab was lifted up not making contact with the reg. roller, print quality went up a lot thank you. and yes all those scans are actual prints, copies look the same or even worse.

Yes 2 days ago we purged dev unit completely, vacuum cleaned and it was completely clean, then we put a another toner bootle different brand and the result is on my previous post.

I didnt find any ¨check bias¨ on service mode - adjust - dev, unless youre reffering to dev-off which has a range -127 + 127 and it was at +15, tried playing with that and the best result i could see was at -25, text is clearer now but straight lines are still ¨wiped¨.

Both fixing and tempcon temps are set at 0.

Quauility improved a lot by doing what teckat suggested but theres still a problem, any idea if this c0ould be caused by a weared out magnetic roller? i dont want to vacuum the one we have and waste all that toner just to find out it wasnt it.

Thank you for your suiggestion guys.
